This year there has been a change in one of the most famous Fashion Awards night, in order to appeal to a larger international audience and to compete with New York’s Met Gala. The British Fashion Council’s annual awards was called The Fashion Awards 2016 this year instead of the British Fashion Awards. This event gathers some of the industry’s biggest names and celebrities in the world, to celebrate the winners from the Fashion industry for the year. This event took place Monday evening at the Royal Albert Hall in London and fashion model Gigi Hadid to designers likes Alessandro Michele for Gucci were seen on the red carpet ready to enjoy the night.

The glamorous event had around 4,00 guests that included top models, designers and celebrities dressed up to the mark, surrounded by 8,000 Swarovski crystals at the Royal Albert Hall and enjoyed as comedian Jack Whitehall compered. Along with being the Fashion Awards night it was also the inaugural fundraising gala for the British Fashion Council’s Education Foundation charity, in which they expect to raise £10m over the next 10 years in order to help provide scholarships for students to design.

The youth definitely dominated the night as we saw Jaden and Willow Smith get the title of being the New Fashion Icons. Gigi Hadid looked absolutely stunning in a metallic silver pant gown, we have seen her setting trends in the past and we are sure that this pant gown she wore will be a hot look to try in 2017. She was not the only one skipping out on the gowns for the red carpet, Alexa Chung, Joan Smalls, Nicole Scherzinger and Jourdan Dunn were seen in either a pant look or a jumpsuit outfit. Fashion model Gigi Hadid was up against her sister Bella Hadid for the international fashion model of the year award and won this title giving her 26.2 million Instagram followers another reason to celebrate. Other young names in the industry such as Craig Green and Simone Rocha won the British menswear and womenswear award which usually every year go to more established brands.

The big names will always be awarded for the amazing work they repeatedly do, Alexander McQueen was named British brand of the year. It was also a big night for Gucci because they received the International Designer Award for creative director Alessandro Michele, along with International Business Leader prize for its chief executive, Marco Bizzari.
