Matt Smith has gone from Doctor Who to Prince Phillip and now Charlie Manson.

Matt Smith, whose first big role was Doctor Who, and then left conquering the galaxy to romancing Elizabeth II in The Crown, will now play madman Charles Manson.

Charlie Says, already has Suki Waterhouse, Hannah Murray, Odessa Young, Marriane Rendon,and Merrit Weaver attached, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie, which will focus on the three women who were involved in the murders that Manson masterminded. Charlie Says will be directed by Mary Harron, who directed American Psycho.
It should be interesting, to say the least to see Smith portray a psychotic cult leader turned murderer. Personally, I wasn't a fan of him when he was the Doctor. I felt that he wasn't able to sustain a sense of quiet menace that is part of the Doctor's personality. I was pretty blown away by his portrayal as Prince Phillip, so maybe he can be menacing after all.
We'll just have to wait for the trailer to find out.
