Skin Care Tips for Oily Skin

As anyone with oily Skin knows, caring for your skin can be tough. Because your sebaceous glands are overactive, your skin naturally produces an oily substance called Sebum. This substance leaves your skin looking greasy, and increasing the likelihood of acne, whiteheads, blackheads, and clogged pores.

Never fear, because here are a few simple tips that can make your daily skin care routine a little bit more manageable.

1. Cleanse and Exfoliate Regularly.

In order to avoid acne problems it is important that you wash your face with Glycerin Soap twice per day, and exfoliate at least twice per week. By cleansing your skin twice per day, once in the morning and once before bed, you are preventing oils from building up and stops bacteria from growing, and cleansing clears out your pores, preventing Acne from forming.

Don’t wash too often, though, because frequent washing causes your skin to dry out, causing your skin to produce more oil in an effort to retain moisture. This can be mitigated, though, by patting your skin dry after every wash and completely drying your skin with a soft cloth.

An Exfoliating Oatmeal Mask or Dead Sea Mud Mask once per week can help clean and tighten pores, as well. This prevents oils from building up in pores, making Acne caused by oily skin to be more manageable.

By taking these simple steps, you can prevent most forms of Acne on oily skin before it can even begin.

2. Moisturize Daily.

Contrary to popular belief moisturizing regularly actually reduces the severity of oily skin. Skin naturally produces oils to help retain moisture. By providing your skin with proper moisture, it actually reduces the need for your skin to produce oils, because it already has moisture.

It is important to pick a water-based moisturizer, though. Using an oil-based moisturizer is counterproductive when you are moisturizing to reduce the severity of oily skin.

3. Glycerin Soap

Washing your skin is important, but what you use can make just as much of a difference as how often you wash. Regular soap leaves behind a filmy residue that can trap oils in your skin and, oddly enough, promote Acne. A Glycerin Soap, on the other hand, will never leave behind any residue and leaves your skin just as clean as regular soap.

4. Wear Proper Sunscreen.

Because your skin is naturally oily, you may be tempted to avoid making your skin even more greasy by skipping sunscreen. However, this is not a wise idea.

By skipping sunscreen, you open up your skin to the harsh rays of the sun, causing brown spots, freckles, and other blemishes to form. By opting to use a simply gel-based sunscreen, you can protect your skin and prevent skin damage.

5. Use Only Noncomedongenic Make-up

Oily skin can make even simple make-up cause clogged pores and Acne flare ups. However, there is still hope for those you if you want clear skin and fancy make-up.

Next time that you shop for make-up, check the label and see if it says that the make-up is noncomedongenic. That long, technical-sounding word means “Will not clog pores” and will allow you to look your best without causing acne and making you look your worse the following week.

If you follow these simple tips, you will be well on your way to having cleaner, clearer, more manageable skin.
