Rahul Mishra’s collection for the India Couture Week 2017 called Parizaad, true to its name, was born of the divine. Surreal and ethereal the collection featured beautiful motifs inspired from nature with an amalgamation of geometric patterns and beautifully intricate handiwork.
Talking about the inspiration for this collection, Mishra was quoted in a press release, “Shades of Persian, Roman, Byzantine architecture from centuries ago made their inroads into my thought process when I thought of this line.”

“Studying the highly intricate use of geometric patterns, girikh, or haft rangi etc to create uninterrupted patterns of tiles of flowers, and a mosaic of nature emphasizing great design aesthetics from a time when human skills were divine and to create a modern language with Indian textiles and embroidery with a Zen like thinking and philosophy has led me to this new narrative,” he added.
The influence of persian motifs is very apparent. The ensembles range from lehengas, draped sarees, Kurtas, anarkalis etc. Rahul used a lot of embroidered sheer fabrics int he collection for the garments as well as drapes and dupattas.
The colour palette is soft and dreamy with whites, soft pink, blue and bright yellow, with embroideries in various other hues adorning the collection. You can see aari, zardozi and resham work in the dresses whether it be in the florals or in the geometric patterns.
