Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2017: Day 3 recap

The third day of the biggest Fashion event of the country at this time of the year – Lakme Fashion Week – came to close. Celebs from the fashion and film industry flocked to the event, both to participate and watch the gala.

Rahul Khanna looked in dapper in a printed jacket on the runway for menswear designer Narendra Kumar, while Nimrat Kaur was a stunning bride in Sonam and Paras Modi’s ‘Noor’ Collection. Hairstylist Sapna Bhavnani walked down the ramp in a layered black dress which went perfectly with her intense looks.

It was a star studded event with bollywood fashionistas gracing the ramp in the designs created by some of the finest auteurs of the country. The collections ranged from dark quirky themes to light summery breezy collections. The detailing and the use of motifs was abundant in the lines made for summer/resort 2017.

Here are our picks of some of the best collections of the day –

Chola by Farah Sanjana 

Farah Sanjana’s Chola started out with an impressive array of ensembles including flared pants, layered skirts, with lightweight jackets with ruffles on the yoke and arms. Colour palette was subtle with plain white, grey, dull blue and red. But what stood out were the prints inspired from nature in yellows and blacks.

Amoh by Jade

Fantastical drapes in pearly whites, silver and Rosso red with intricate laces thrown around were the picks for the collection by Monica Shah and Karishma Swali’s label Amoh by Jade. Bollywood actor Swara Bhaskar turned showstopper for the two. She sashayed down the ramp in cowled dress clinched at the waistline with a lace trail jacket.

Payal Singhal

A dramatic look was portrayed in Payal Singhal’s collection as models walked down the ramp with the OST from La La Land playing in the backdrop. The embroidery rich line in georgettes, silks, tulles brought back the romanticism to the collection. The colour palette was muted in ash grey, deep midnight blue, dark maroons with metallic art deco motifs and fringes in abundance. Diana Penty turned showstopper for Singhal.

Label Ritu Kumar’s summer/resort collection was at its colourful best. The line comprises of separates in psychedelic prints with bright orange, red, blue, purple and pink thrown in for good measure into a mix of blacks and metallics too. From constructed tops and fitted hotpants to billowing metallic skirts, this collection is meant for the urban who dares to own the quirk. The collection was styled with beret caps, chunky leather belts, chokers, military inspired caps and boots. Vaani Kapoor was the show stopper for the collection.

Splash

Dubai based fashion brand Splash roped in Iulia Vantur and TV actor Karishma Tanna to walk down the ramp for their debut show in Lakme Fashion Week. Suraj Pancholi joined in with the beautiful ladies in smart formals for the brand. Vantur and Tanna were dressed in sequined dresses for the show.

Falguni and Shane Peacock

At their opulent best, designer duo Falguni and Shane Peacock’s collection ‘The Rebel’ was a fantastic runway comeback for their brand after a gap of six years. From nude colours to silver, greys, blues, and black – their collection was a dramatic amalgamation of layers and fitted silhouettes. It started out with short dresses with dramatic volumes in soft sheer fabrics to fitted embroidered gowns. Bipasha Basu’s showstopper especially stood out – it was literally a star studded affair.
