Everyone loves themselves some shortcuts. Why spend the time clicking extra buttons aimlessly when you can use some Keyboard magic? We’ve compiled our top 13 favorite keyboard shortcuts that we bet you never know about. And if you already knew them, well then good on you smarty-pants!

Some of these Keyboard Hacks have been optimized for a PC user and those working with a Windows 8 OS or higher. We apologize in advance if not all of these hacks work for you.

1. CTL + Shift + ESC

To open your Task Manager window without having to go through extra clicks. Trust us, this will be your hallelujah moment.

2. Win + L

If you’re a PC user, press these buttons to immediately lock your screen before going for a coffee break.

3. Space / Shift + Space

Pressing your spacebar in a browser will allow you to scroll downwards, while holding down the shift button before pressing the spacebar will scroll back up.

4. Win + PrtSc

This shortcut will automatically save your printscreen to a specifically denoted printscreen folder. You’ll save time from having to open a program to paste the picture into.

5. CTL + Shift + T

To reopen a tab that you may have just accidentally closed. We’re all guilty of doing this at least once. This keyboard hack is a miracle for all of us that try to close a tab but accidentally close another one by mistake in haste.

6. Alt + ESC

Immediately minimizes the current window that’s open. You know this will come in handy when you’re slacking and your boss is about to come around the corner.

7. CTL + Tab

Use this keyboard hack to toggle through the tabs opened on your browser.

8. CTL + Alt + Arrow Key

If you’re lying in bed trying to watch a movie sideways, flip the orientation of your screen to match your sideways body position.

9. CTL + F

If you didn’t already know this then we have no idea how you ever found anything on your computer. Use the Find/Search option to find anything in your computer from a browser to any program with this quick keyboard hack.

10. CTL + Backspace

When you’re trying to delete multiple words at once without having to highlight it with your mouse, use control and backspace to delete whole words as opposed to just letters.

11. Shift + Del

This will permanently delete something without ever placing it into the trash bin to begin with. Save yourself some time of emptying your trash bin with this keyboard hack.

12. F2

If you want to rename a selected item without having to double click on it and accidentally opening it, hit this key to get the auto-rename option!

13. CTL + F4

Close the specific document you currently have active in a program that allows you to run multiple documents at once. This keyboard hack is good for programs like Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Word.
