The Heuer Seafarer

Words by: JPS for duncan quinn

Those in the know about American heritage brands are well aware that long before

There are a couple different versions of the Seafarer that were produced by Heuer over the years for A&F but the one being offered by Bonhams is among the rarest, last made, and most beautiful. At 40mm it doesn’t suffer from the small watch syndrome that plagues some vintage specimens. The slate gray dial is especially dashing with its blue and white subdials, and, to our eyes, more elegant than the earlier white dialed version. Heuer of course is best known for motorsports inspired watches like the Carrera and Autavia, some of which were also retailed by A&F back in the day though not with signed dials. The Seafarer is estimated at up to $6,000 but worth considerably more. Which means, of course, that there is no reason not to buy it.
