Every woman who has ever experienced Childbirth knows that delivering a baby is no joke. Regardless of whether you’ve delivered one baby or many, and whether there were complications or the delivery ran smoothly, childbirth is still an incredibly intense experience for a woman. And one that requires a lot of time to recover from.

Although we’ve seen study after study insist that it takes Women a full year to fully recover from childbirth, and that having a baby puts as much strain on the body as running a marathon, for some reason women are expected to ‘bounce back’ after childbirth like they didn’t just push a person out of their body. In the United States the maternity leave options are less than ideal. For many women they aren’t financially able to take advantage of any time off.

There are some companies that offer paid maternity leave but it’s not the norm.

That means many women are returning to work after childbirth without actually allowing themselves to heal properly. And we’re not even talking about the massive amounts of hormones that are raging through a new mother’s body after giving birth, but actual, physical healing.
