I know it’s a cliché but there has to be a special place in hell for people who rape and murder children. Words cannot express how furious reading stories about babies being sexually assaulted and violently killed makes me. The case of Sereniti Sutley is especially heartbreaking.

On Oct. 7 her 22-year-old mom Kelsie Blankenship found the 13-month-old unresponsive in their home in Conneaut, Ohio. Blankenship banged on her neighbors’ doors, screaming for help in the early hours of the morning. Police got the call at 5:15 a.m. and the little girl was rushed to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead. She had been raped and died from blunt force trauma to the head and trunk, according to a coroner’s report.
The Conneaut Law Director’s Office released a statement on Oct. 13, saying: “This is a horrible, despicable and devastating crime, affecting everyone who has come into contact with it, including EMT personnel, Conneaut police officers, and UH doctors, nurses and other medical personnel.” The disturbing thing about this case is the person who is accused of killing little Sereniti is still on the run.
