Mother Accused Of Killing Son And Step-Son Because She Feared Being Deported

A tragic story out of Delaware where a Mother and step mother allegedly took the life of two innocent children out of fear of deportation.

A 30-year-old Delaware woman is in Police custody, charged with drowning her 3-month-old son and his 5-year-old half brother.

The native of Liberia has been living in the United States for over two decades, but was apparently worried about the fear of deportation after her boyfriend, who is the father of both the boys, was picked up and detained by agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Kula Pelima had called police earlier in the day to express her fears over deportation after her boyfriend, Victor Epelle’s detainment, despite the fact the woman was in the Country Legally.

Police responded to Pelima’s initial 911 call and assured her she wasn’t going to be arrested. The responding officer even saw the 5-year-old boy, but didn’t note any sort of distress in the home and left her with a help line number where she could obtain further information.

Police allege that when they returned to the home later that day Pelima confessed to killing the two boys in the bathtub.

Pelima is currently being held at the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on a $2 million bond.
