There were a lot of things that I think I looked like while pregnant and continuing to go to work…I looked a little ridiculous, for one, because I was absolutely enormous (excess amniotic will do that to you) and it made my job as a labor and delivery nurse a little difficult when it required such things as dashing to a mom who literally walked off the elevator giving birth. (True story and it happened the day I hit 39 weeks and I totally had a doctor very frustrated with me for not moving fast enough. My bad.)
The point is, even though I was fully aware I looked enormous, I was in the right place by working in labor and delivery, right? It never once crossed my mind not to go to work or to avoid showing off my Baby Bump or not address my pregnancy.
But for one pregnant employee, a co-worker gave her a not-so-subtle reminder that pregnancy used to be considered something you had to hide at work. So scandalous!
