Would you ‘seed’ your baby?
The surprising post-birth trend is taking place across Australia and is on the rise that sees mothers who have C-sections bathe newborns in vaginal fluid .
According to the site Mums body and soul, some women who are giving birth by caesarean section are covering their newborn in fluid swabbed from their vagina. The practice is called “seeding” and it arose after several studies showed the gut bacteria of babies born via C-section differ from those of babies born vaginally, which may hinder the development of their immune system.
