Four Tips for Exercising With Glasses

Getting in shape this year but wondering how to work out and wear glasses? It’s really not as hard as it sounds. Here are a few simple tips to help make exercising while wearing Glasses a little easier.

Tip 1: Make sure your glasses fit well.

If your glasses are too loose or uncomfortable when you wear them, this problem will only be exacerbated when you start to Sweat and move! First, go to your closest Eyeglass World and get a free adjustment. It only takes a few minutes and will change the way your glasses feel, wherever you go.

Glasses that fit well shouldn’t slide down your face or constantly need pushed back up your nose. They shouldn’t pinch behind your ears or feel tighter on one side than the other. If your frame has nose pads, ask the optician to check them as well to make sure your glasses sit level.

Tip 2: Consider a strap.

If you’re going to be running or doing competitive sports while you’re exercising, consider getting a band that attaches to each earpiece on your frame and stretches around your neck or head. These bands will make sure that your frames won’t fall off and hit the ground if you’re running, jumping to make a basket, or chasing the ball down the field.

Tip 3: Carry a lens cleaning cloth.

If you’re doing aerobics or working out in a humid place, your glasses may react to the moisture in the air and fog up. Spinning or cycling rooms, for example, can get more humid as the workout progresses causing your glasses to get more steamy. Instead of wiping your lenses with your sweat towel, carry an appropriate Lens Cleaning Cloth so you can swiftly wipe them off and restore your vision again. Use this same cloth to clean the sweat off your eyeglass frame as well.

Tip 4: Consider a sweatband.

Sweat can make even well-fitting glasses slip down your nose, but wearing a sweatband or head band can help keep the sweat from pouring down your face and affecting the fit of your glasses. Keep a workout towel handy so you can wipe your brow or remove your glasses and wipe your face as the sweat accumulates. The drier your face remains, the easier it will be for your glasses to stay put.

Don’t let your glasses stop you from getting a great workout in. Follow these tips or talk to the opticians at your closest Eyeglass World about frames that would be great to exercise in!
