And no, I know what you’re thinking. Not that strawberry dress, the one that Tess Holliday wore and is now Tik Tok famous. We are talking about something similar to that, but make it vintage. It seems that everywhere in fashion, fruit is having a moment, especially strawberries. Unique Vintage recently released a whole new collection inspired by these jaunty little fruits! And you know I couldn’t resist trying at least one thing from this adorable collection.
Well, two things actually! The main course is the syracuse swing dress, and then just to complete the look I also chose the green dandy cardigan. Of course I got these from my most favorite place, Pink House Boutique in Glandale, AZ! As always I will give you the full run down on these pieces, as well as my thoughts on styling. If you are craving some strawberries, just keep reading!
Features
Where do I even begin on the features of this dress? It’s pretty busy, but that’s the reason I like it so much. There is a cute strawberry pattern on top of a light pink background, with lots of green rick rack! Mainly the hem and the collar up top. Also featured is a modest v-neckline and buttons down the front.
The skirt is a swing skirt, but nowhere near a circle. It’s not something that I would personally wear a petticoat with, as it might puff out weirdly and not fit. Overall it creates a really fun and flirty look! Ideal for springtime or any time you are feeling extra sweet.
The dandy cardigan was also a win! I got it on a whim and boy am I sure glad I did. Although it is a fairly standard three quarter length cardigan, it has these adorable ties at the top to make a cute little bow, whether it’s buttoned or not. If you’d prefer not to feature the bow with a certain outfit , they are easy to tuck away.
Fit & Sizing
Sometimes the Unique Vintage brand can be varied when it comes to sizing, depending on the fabrics. But this frock was pretty spot on! I got a medium (my usual size) and it fits me perfectly. It wasn’t so tight that it was restricting, and I actually found this outfit to be pretty comfortable. Keep in mind there really isn’t any stretch to this fabric, so you may need to size up if you are in between.
The dandy cardigan is, again, very standard. Cardigans are usually very forgiving with their stretch, and I like mine to be very fitted. I chose a small and I really like how it fits on me! But everyone has their personal taste in how they like it to fit so I would go with what you like.
If you aren’t a fan of green, you can still rejoice because it comes in several different colors. My favorite of those options(which I also own) comes in black with little embroidered strawberries on it. Just some more fruity goodness you could add on to your next ensemble!
Quality
I was very happy with the quality of this strawberry dress! And the cardigan too. I have worn it quite a few times, and it has worn very well! The fabric is extremely wrinkle resistant, and has a nice feel to it.
As usual, all of the stitching is nice and even, and no missing buttons or anything like that. It fits well, and I can tell by how the fabric feels that it isn’t going to fall apart easily. The cardigan is the same; I’ve found that all of the Unique Vintage cardigans have been high quality, and something I reach for time and time again.
So the quality is another win for the strawberry dress! Overall, this dress is highly Aphrodite approved. If you’re looking for something fun, a good Easter dress, or a way to make the strawberry dress your own… this will be the outfit for you! I also highly recommend the sweater with it, but if you decide not to get it, just make sure you are wearing lots of sunscreen to protect those arms.
