The 1940’s are the decade that will always have my heart. And it was the accessories that really knock it out of the park! Bakelite jewelry and hair flowers? Yes please! I am always on the lookout for new businesses to find these types of accessories, so when I stumbled across Onique’s Uniques, I was super excited.

Onique lives in the Netherlands and operates her shop all by herself. She designs everything, handcrafts it, and then ships it all out. What a one woman show?! Her customer service was amazing and she is extremely sweet and easy to work with, so I’d recommend her on that alone.

However, even without that, her products speak for themselves. I made an order with a few different pieces in a variety of colors, styles, and finishes so I could see the whole spectrum and get a good read on her creations. I will be featuring them today and giving you all the details!

Hair Flowers

Let’s start with the hair flowers! They are more of the appetizer in the meal of Onique’s Unique’s. They aren’t yet listed on her shop, but she will be putting them up soon. I reached out to her over Instagram after seeing some pictures and she was kind enough to ship some to me.

What I chose were two orchids, one in a bubblegum pink, and one in a blue. I adore orchids, but she also stocks a variety of flowers in a whole array of beautiful colors. Some look very natural, and some look zany and unique. Whatever your taste is, there will be something for you.

Now, mind you, these are not huge and realistic arrangements. But, that is reflected in the price. They are super affordable, but also very sturdy and well made. The flowers clamp to my hair easily and stay put. Luckily they’re not super heavy, which can weigh down your hairdo.

What made me fall in love with these little beauties is that you can stack them together to create your own little custom arrangement! This means that the flowers are incredibly versatile. Sometimes it’s nice to have one clip with a specific variety of flowers, but these are wonderful. They make it possible to create so many different looks with just a few flowers.

Jewelry

Now onto the jewelry, Onique’s Uniques main course. Especially her Earrings, which was what I got. In total, I purchased five pairs of earrings, and I want to show them all off here! My goal was to choose several different styles to show you what a lovely range she has.

Tiki-tastic Tropical Earrings (in lemon)

First off are these tropical lemon hoops. They contain a little plastic lemon with a leaf, surrounded by a bamboo hoop. These hoops are beyond adorable! They come in a variety of different fruits such as grapes, strawberries, and many more.

In addition to these, you can get the fruits by themselves, just attached to the post, without the hoops. They’re cute but I love the hoops because they add such a tropical vibe.

Chunky Tiki-tastic Earrings (in black)

Next up are these chunky black tiki earrings. I know that the description in her shop said “chunky”, but I still wasn’t prepared for the grand size! I love these, but know they may not be the best choice if you’re going for something small and subtle.

If black isn’t your thing, have no fear. You can rock that dramatic tiki vibe in many other colors! These will top off any sarong set, playsuit, or swimsuit beautifully.

Chunky Tiki-tastic Dangle Earrings (in teal glitter)

I also chose a second pair of chunky tiki earrings in a different style and color. Although they don’t lack in size and flair, they are slightly smaller than the other ones I got. They also lend themselves well to other looks that aren’t particularly tropical.

And let me tell you, the pictures don’t do these pretties any justice! Sparkle is one of my favorite things in this world, and these earrings bring that out in full force. It’s impossible to capture to shimmer on camera, but know that when you choose glitter, you are going to get GLITTER.

The Mid-century Square Studs (in purple and gold)

The midcentury square studs are also glitter-packed with two colors. These are more understated than the other styles so far, and are a great way to make it pinup without being too crazy. I like the idea of wearing your hair down and then having a peak of glitter show through.

I chose purple and gold, but there are some really fun color combinations to decide from. My main earrings are all dangly earrings, but there are some fabulous studs at Onique’s Uniques as well.

Sweet Heart Dangles (in hot pink)

Last but certainly not least are these sweetheart dangles! They are inspired by none other than the famed conversation candy hearts we all know and love. Nothing like getting a mouth full of sugar flavored chalk.

With these earrings you get all the sweetness and none of the unhealthiness. There’s also a matching brooch, which I am dying to get now. It may not be Valentine’s Day, but I still aim to look sparkly and romantic.

Packaging

I would also like to make a note of how well all of these items were shipped. Onique’s Uniques came carefully wrapped in tissue paper and bundled up. They also each had their own individual plastic wrapping to keep them safe. This is precious cargo! Luckily they were all preserved delicately and safely.

With any business, it’s the little details that make all the difference. Monique added the cutest little card with some quotes, and my favorite part, some Dutch candy! How cute.

Please recognize the amount of self control it took me to keep from eating these little guys until after I took a picture. It took all I had, but it was worth it to get a cute flatlay for you guys.

Overall, this little shop is rockin! My one criticism of Onique’s Uniques is that she keeps designing gorgeous creations that I want to buy. Give my wallet a break girl! In all seriousness, these are some amazing jewelry pieces, and I highly recommend them.
