Reasons Why Your Feet Hurt

Acclaimed as one of the easiest and most effective forms of exercise, walking is beneficial in many ways. According to research, 80 percent of women have foot problems, which means that walking is not as preferred as, perhaps a good resting time on the couch. To know the reasons why your feet hurt, check this:

Plantar fasciitis: It is a syndrome that causes Painful inflammation in the fibrous tissue. This tissue runs on the bottom of your foot. This is most common in the age group of 40 to 65, as they experience heel pain, especially if they are heavy.

Remedy: Massage and stretch your feet and calves. Doing so will help relieve inflammation and will supply oxygenated blood to the area.

Bunions and hammertoes: These are painful deformities of the big (bunions) and small toes (hammertoes). Although they can be genetic, they get worse if you wear tight shoes consistently. When shoes rub against the toes, they become painful and cause inflammation, swelling, and redness.

Remedy: Choosing the right shoes will help prevent bunions and hammertoes in the first place. There should be at least half an inch of gap between the tip of your longest toe and the shoe.

Calluses. These are pressure spots that can be painful when you walk. It’s supposedly the body's way of preventing the formation of painful blisters.

Remedy: Soak your feet in warm water and apply a moisturizing lotion that contains glycolic acid, lactic acid, or urea, which help soften the skin and minimize callus.

Achilles tendonitis: Your Achilles tendon can become irritated and inflamed when it's overused. The result is tendonitis.  Those who regularly wear high heels, like runners, are more susceptible to this condition.

Remedy: The sooner you nip this problem in the bud, the better. When you feel even a little twinge, apply ice in the area as soon as possible. Plenty of rest is also advised.

Morton's neuroma: This is a condition that produces extreme pain in the ball of your foot. The pain then often spreads out to the third and fourth toes.

Remedy: Custom orthotics and in often cases, cortisone injections.
