Looking Forward to Baselworld 2018

There are always a lot of Exciting events to look forward to after the new year and one of the most exciting this time around is Baselworld 2018. This years trip to the Messe Basel is going to be a slightly shorter one than usual but it will still be the most exciting event on the calendar of any watch fanatic. All of the biggest watch brands from Switzerland and beyond will be looking forward to making their biggest announcements to the most watch lovers and journalists across the world.

Let’s preview the most exciting watch event of the year and what will almost certainly be the most incredible Baselworld yet.

New Challenges

It is fair to say that watch manufacturers are facing a very challenging time at present. Luxury watch brands are still selling well but they are facing big challenges in the shape of wearable tech and tough economic conditions. Different manufacturers have taken different steps to overcome these challenges with many attempting to create their own wearable tech while others have also attempted to compete at the more affordable end of the market.

These challenges are not only affecting the manufacturers themselves, but they have also caused concerns for Baselworld too. Over recent years attendance has been down despite the worldwide attention being as high as ever. To this end, Baselworld 2018 has been cut by two days in order to pack all of the excitement into a smaller but still incredibly exciting package. The event will take place from March 22nd till March 27th 2018 and we will be covering every single day of it.

New Innovations

Baselworld 2018 is going to bring something very new to help people who want to keep up to date on the latest announcements. For the first time ever, people will be able to get the latest news from a Baselworld 2018 chatbot. The “Baselworld Live News” chatbot will provide personalised updates across the Facebook Messenger, WeChat and Telegram chat platforms.

The Managing Director of Baselworld, Sylvie Ritter, explained “Thanks to this new and highly efficient channel, exhibitors will now have a direct link with existing and prospective customers” She added, “We are moving from global communication to direct and personalised communication in real time, which allows us to bring exhibitors and visitors closer together more quickly”

New Watches

Baselworld organisers made it clear last year that they want the event to continue to feature a very exclusive group of watch brands. However this premium group of watchmakers are expected to bring a wide range of exciting new watches to Baselworld 2018. While it’s unknown exactly which brands are going to save their biggest announcements for the event, it’s going to be great to see exactly what they all come up with.

It’s known that Patek Philippe, Omega and Hermès are set to bring new watches to Baselworld 2018. These three brands are some of the biggest brands who always bring exciting watches to the market, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them steal the show this year. It’s also expected that Seiko, Ball and Frederique Constant will be announcing incredible new watches this year – and it will be very intriguing to see what they come up with!
