Build you own Tabata

No, I’m not talking about a delicious French Sandwich!  But, this week’s blog does give you all the fixin’s to create a Tabata workout exactly how you like it, and best of all you can do it anywhere be it a hotel, your bedroom or even a gym.  Bon Appetite!

There is a trainer at my gym, I won’t mention the gym or the trainer by name, but he does the same thing over and over, client after client.  It drives me crazy, and I think to myself repeatedly, “There are 100 ways to get your heart rate up, dude!  Do any of those!”

That was the inspiration for this week’s post.  I didn’t have to travel this week, which was a much needed break after the wedding and honeymoon.   I’m enjoying my new title as Mrs., but returning to work and normal life has been challenging.  Work and responsibilities don’t pause when you’re on vacation and getting caught up while getting diet and Exercise back on track can be a struggle, even for me.

I am working on a honeymoon travel post that I’m very excited to share with everyone, but, in the meantime, I bring you the Tabata Menu.  I’m going to kick up my intensity in the gym this week, so I’m inviting you to join me.  Misery, I mean fitness, loves company.

Here’s how this works.  You have below two Tabata templates; 1 is 10 minutes in length and the other is 16 minutes.  Notice the Interval times differ.  If you’re like me and want to write in your exercises, you can get my Excel spreadsheets here:  tabata-workouts

To make timing the intervals easy, I recommend downloading an Interval App.  There are several.  I use the Interval Timer for iOS. The app looks like this:  interval-timer-app

Now you have your interval timer and you know which Tabata workout you want.  Now for the fun part.  Pick an exercise from the Tabata menu below for Exercise 1.  Pick a different exercise for Exercise 2, and so on.  Once you have a plan, set your timer and Go!  You should be begging for each rest period, so if you’re not, I suggest choosing something more challenging.  This is your Tabata though.  Make it how you like it.

Please send me your favorite combinations or variations.  I’ll try them all!
