A Tamil Nadu Muslim organisation, Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamat (TNTJ) has issued a ‘Fatwa’ (rule) against Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali products that are made with core ingredient cow urine. Cow urine consumption is considered ‘Haram’ (forbidden) in Islam.
They said that “cow’s urine is the key ingredient used in cosmetics, medicines and food products of Patanjali that are available either online or in the local markets. But Muslim Beliefs are against the use of cow’s urine which is haram and so TNTJ issues a fatwa that Patanjali products are haram”.
Reason for Fatwa Issue
The main aim for the issue of this fatwa is to spread awareness and make it easier for the Muslim Community to know about the ingredients of these products. Thus, according to Muslim beliefs, these products are not meant to be consumed by them. The fatwa is being issued to assure that Muslim community would not unknowingly consume these products that they consume in their daily life.
