Summer is all about fresh food, and so Salad is a summer staple. I try to eat a salad just about every day, and there’s no time like summer to indulge in the fresh veggie deliciousness. At work I’m limited to the small selection on the salad bar, but at home I experiment with various ingredients so that my salad habit stays interesting. But I always come back to a few favorite salad ingredients that that I crave so I thought I’d share with you my Summer Spinach Salad Recipe that has several of my favorite “go-to” ingredients. I make it all the time and hope you love it!
- 4 cups Spinach
- 1.5 cups Strawberries
- ½ a Yellow Pepper, chopped
- 3 Tablespoons Sunflower Seeds
- 3 Tablespoons Dried Cranberries
- ½ cup shredded carrots
- 3 Tablespoons slivered almonds
- Tessemae's dressing
- Mix all items together
- Top with Tessemae's dressing
I go crazy for sunflower seeds and slivered almonds in my salad now that my youngest isn’t allergic to either of those ingredients anymore. And the strawberries totally make this salad my favorite!
To top the salad off, I used Tessemae’s dressing – an organic, fresh dressing that tastes homemade. So often in the past I have made a delicious salad and then put a mediocre dressing on it that is loaded with added sugar and ingredients I can’t pronounce. No more – I am obsessed with Tessemae’s dressings.
The really cool thing about Tessemae’s is that it’s a local company created by two brothers who used their mom’s recipe from childhood. Being a native Marylander, I love that it’s from Annapolis, one of my favorite cities that’s all about delicious food.
The dressings are also marinades and have fresh, simple, real ingredients, with no preservatives. It’s also USDA organic, gluten free, non-gmo, and vegan, with no added sugar as well! And it’s absolutely delicious.
I did a taste test with my parents while sharing the salad, and it was hard to pick a favorite. I really the Green Goddess and also the Honey Balsamic. The Honey Balsamic was a thick dressing and hard to get out of the bottle, but totally worth it!
I absolutely love all four flavors that they sent to me, and will definitely be buying more to top off my summer spinach salad and more!
