Do your feet hurt after your workout? Did you spend a fortune on those fancy shoes that fell apart? Not as much support as you thought you would have from those over priced shoes? Shoes can, singularly, make or break your Workout. There are so many factors that go into finding the right pair of shoes for the workout you are trying.

According to WebMD, “The 5 biggest mistakes when choosing workout shoes are: grabbing whatever’s handy; choosing the right shoe for the wrong workout; loving them too much; loving them too long; and doing it yourself”. Many people do not take the time to find the right shoe for their workout. They just don’t care and grab the first thing they see in the closet. As long as it resembles a sneaker, then it should suffice. Some just don’t want to spend the money, so they make due with what they have. Having this aloof attitude can cause serious injury and discomfort. Others just don’t want to let go of those 1997 Nike Air Max’s that are talking at the sole’s, and have lost so much tread they could just use them to ski with. Like most things in life, sometimes you just have to let it go. Those 1992 Converse Aero Jet’s gave you many good years on the basketball court, but for your safety and the safety of those around you, invest in something new. No one wants you on their team if you keep making continuous fouls because you can’t stay on your feet

With all the different variety of workouts these days, they seem to make a shoe for each different one. Many people make the mistake of purchasing shoes for a particular workout, like running, and then take on a different activity, like basketball. These two different workouts tend to call for two different shoes. Using one for the other can be very detrimental to your comfort level after your workout. And no one likes to feel bad after a workout!

So many people think as long as they invest in the newest, flashiest, and most expensive shoe then they will be unstoppable in their workout. This is just not true. They are workout shoes. They can be new, but they didn’t have to come out 3 hours ago to make a huge difference or improvement. A decent pair of shoe for your desired workout, also, does not have to cost the same as a car payment. Yes, investing some money in a good pair of shoes is important, but do not put yourself in overtime at work just to pay for them. Stay in your budget.

And last, but not least, get help with your shoe purchase. Unless you have been engaging in a sport or workout for multiple years, then ask an expert or shoe sales person. Just because you have taken up a new hobby, or changed your lifestyle to a healthier one, it does not make you an expert in the proper equipment for said activity. The right shoe can really make a huge impact on your workout. Make the right choice for the activity you are participating in. Comfort is really the most important thing, and if you are going to be pushing your body, your feet deserve a little relief and luxury.
