Finding Your Next MMA Sponsor With Less Competition

Today I'm gonna touch on Finding sponsors outside of the fight industry.

The majority of this post was actually submitted by my buddy MarQ who runs the Wombat Sports website.

I made a few changes but the majority is his. He made some great points so I want to share them with you.

Here we go...

There are hundreds of MMA Companies out there and a few thousand Fighters asking to be sponsored by them every day.

If you do the math, it’s not hard to realize that it’s stiff Competition for their dollars.

So then, why do so many fighters focus solely on those companies?

Why not look for businesses and companies outside of the MMA market?

Even if the business hasn’t invested in sponsoring a fighter yet, maybe they just need you to show them why it’s a good idea. And since they aren’t hit up by fighters every day you’ll have less competition.

A prime example is Jessica Eye. The UFC title contender took it upon herself to ask Chick-O-Stick, her favorite candy, for a Sponsorship.

Low and behold, they agreed and have been in a great relationship that carried on to the UFC.

Carla Esparza also got a cookie sponsorship with Oatmega Bar, which produces “Perfect Cookie”.

Here’s today’s takeaway:

When seeking sponsorship, reach out to businesses and companies that make products you love to use.

You can sell yourself better if you believe in their product.

The biggest question on their mind will be “Why should we sponsor you?”

When you can show them the benefits of sponsoring you, AND honestly tell them you love their product and how it’s made a difference in your life, it strengthens your case.

So if you’re tired of competing with a ton of other fighters for a limited number of sponsorship, try companies outside the MMA market.

You may find your newest sponsor where you least expect it.
