Moonlight White Buds have caused a lot of discussions around the type of tea category this falls into: Some say it’s a Puerh, while others say it’s a white tea and there are those who say it’s an Oolong. You’ll have to decide for yourself.
What is Moonlight White Buds Tea?
As you can see one side of the leaf is white and the other side is black, this is because of the unique processing.
The processing starts with the leaves & buds, usually, 2 leaves a one bud when there is still a lot of white fuzzies on the bud, being picked in the spring and then dried over a long period of time under the moonlight.
Like white tea, it involves a process of withering and drying, because the drying takes place under moonlight, the length of time some fermentation takes place like puerh.
The best leaves and buds are picked in mid to late spring so the best time to purchase the current harvest in during the summer. But because this is a puerh variety it could be anytime.
I think because of the long processing the tea becomes very complex with lots of healthy benefits.
Moonlight White Buds not only contains an abuntant amount of minerals, plenty of vitamins, but also has plenty of polyphenol.
