Top 3 Ways to Eliminate Cellulite

Anyone who has ever looked in the mirror and seen lumpy, dimpled skin has probably felt a sinking feeling. That’s because the abnormal appearance of that skin indicates the presence of Cellulite. This condition is a problem for many women, although it may affect men too. Stopping it or preventing it is not easy, but it may be helpful to understand more about what cellulite is and what causes it.

Studies suggest that between 80 and 90 percent of women struggle with cellulite. However, no one is certain what causes it. Cellulite occurs when the connective tissues below the outer layer of the skin begin to break down. The layer of fat below the connective tissue begins to push through those openings, causing the dimpled appearance of the skin.

Doctors believe that hormonal changes play a role in the development of cellulite. As women get closer to menopause, their body produces less estrogen. That means there is less blood flow to the connective tissues, which leads to their weakening. Collagen production also drops as circulation lowers and the area receives less oxygen. Researchers further theorize that genetics plays a role in cellulite. In other words, if women in your family have cellulite, you are more likely to have it too.

Hormonal changes are a natural part of aging, but there may be things that you can do to slow down cellulite. A healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise and a Balanced Diet is helpful.

1. Get Regular Exercise

Cardiovascular workouts, which could include things like walking and swimming, are wonderful methods for keeping excess fat at bay. Three 30-minute cardio workouts a week may be enough to shed extra pounds.

2. Eat a Balanced Diet

A balanced diet that avoids highly processed foods in favor of fresh fruits and vegetables, lean proteins and whole grains lowers your risk factor for developing cellulite. In fact, healthy eating may be the best way to protect yourself, since studies have demonstrated that people who eat a high-fat, high-carbohydrate diet are more likely to have cellulite.

3. Strength Training

Exercising with weights is yet another method that may help you fight the progression of cellulite. Since this problem tends to develop mostly in the buttocks and thighs, it may prove helpful to tone and strengthen the muscles in these parts of the body. A regular program of all-over Strength Training tones and tightens muscles. The skin tends to get tighter as a result, and this can reduce the appearance of cellulite or prevent it from making an appearance in the first place. Strength training also has the advantage of increasing blood flow to the areas that are being trained. Once again, this may prove efficacious for dealing with cellulite.

While there is no cure for cellulite, there are things you can do that may help to prevent it or lessen its appearance. Don’t wait for “cottage cheese thighs” to surprise you. Take proactive steps with a healthy diet and a regular program of exercise.
