Steak is full of nutrients and can be included in moderation as part of a healthy diet. Packed with protein, iron and vitamin B12, Steak supports your immune system. Although steak is healthy to eat in moderation, too much saturated fat can lead to obesity, high cholesterol and heart disease. I usually limit to no more than once or twice a week due to steak’s risk of saturated fat. It’s important to limit your intake of saturated fat to lower your health risks. By no means should you remove this is nutrient dense food from your diet, just merely consume in moderation.
Many steak recipes have steak sauces that are loaded with sodium and calories, but my Easy Steak Recipe is void of an unhealthy sauce, yet just as delicious!
Ingredients (1 Serving):
– 1 ear of corn on the cob
– 4 spears of asparagus
– 4 sliced mushrooms
– 2 oz of steak
– 1/2 tsp black pepper
– 1/4 tsp salt
– 1 tsp Ms. Dash
– 1 tbsp olive oil
1. In a skillet, heat oil on medium heat until hot. Add chopped asparagus, sliced mushrooms and Ms. Dash seasoning. Cook for 10 minutes stirring the vegetables occasionally.
2. In a separate skillet, heat oil on high heat until hot. Season both sides of the steak with ground black pepper and salt.
3. Add steak to the skillet and cook 4 minutes on each side for medium-rare or until desired doneness.
4. Fill a large pot with water and bring to a boil. Drop in corn on the cob and boil for 5 minutes.
Tip: To make this Easy Steak recipe even healthier, consider grilling your steak instead of cooking in a skillet. This technique allows fat to drip off the steak, rather than settle into it.
