September at Trader Joe's: Things I'm Trying This Month (That Aren't All Pumpkin-Spiced)

Over the weekend, I went to Trader Joe's and did my best not to turn into a pumpkin while I was in the store (and I mean that literally, not in the Cinderella kind of way).

Anything you could possibly think of was pumpkin-spiced or pumpkin-infused, and I'm just perplexed. Pumpkin spices can be good (in moderation. Not every day!), but pumpkin itself ain't all that! I just don't get how obsessive people get around the pumpkin, one of the most basic (and I mean that in the rude way) gourds of the fall. I mean, have you never heard of butternut squash??

Fortunately for me, I demonstrated restraint when it came to all of this aggressive pumpkin marketing (unlike what I did when the last royal wedding came around, and I bought all the English food) . I purchased exactly one pumpkin-related item, and I mostly purchased it so that I could save some bucks by not buying a certain drink from Starbucks every Thursday and Saturday morning.

I don't know the last time I shared my grocery store run with you, but I'm doing it now, so here we are. I was excited about trying some new-to-me items, so, as is my bloggerly duty, I'm sharing it with my internet friends.

My latest Trader Joe's run!

Cheese Wraps

So... obviously, I already tried this one. Not even 24 hours after purchasing these wraps were they in my belly. #sorrynotsorry These are really good, and I Love how they work! You can pop them in the microwave or oven for a very short amount of time (I did 45 seconds in my microwave), wait a few seconds for it to harden just a tad, and then you can reshape them! I used them in this delicious breakfast wrap I made, and actually used a second item from my TJ's trip to really bring this wrap to life.

Everything but the Elote

I'm not a big corn eater, but I love the flavors of elote (Mexican grilled corn)! I always love trying out new spices, and TJ's has some great flavor blends. For example, the Umami Seasoning makes regular appearances in my dinners, and it is amazing on avocado toast. I can't get enough of that seasoning!

Back to the Everything but the Elote. This was a great seasoning! It has a little kick to it, but it's so flavorful. I used it on my eggs, and it did not disappoint. My review of Trader Joe's Everything but the Elote: More, please.

Rice Orzo Pilaf Mix

I have also tried this one out. #InfluencerJohn (if you know, you know) overcooked this one a bit, but most of it was salvageable, and it was really good! We had it with some chicken shwarma and salad, and the flavors went really nicely together.

Mushroom & Herb Risotto

I love risotto, but I don't trust myself to make my own correctly at this point in my life. Maybe one day.

Nonetheless, I can get down with risotto any day. I love anything with mushroom and herb flavors, so I'm sure this is going to be delicious. Stay tuned!

Pumpkin Pie Spice

Alright, so I already admitted that I bought one item, and it's because I want to save money on buying pumpkin-spiced drinks. If I can figure out how to make my own version of the Starbucks Pumpkin Cold Brew, I'm going to be heavily caffeinated and my pockets will have a few extra bucks in them.

Peppered Turkey Bacon

I love uncured Turkey Bacon, with those big ol' slabs. Anyone who player hates on turkey bacon (i.e. all those "it's not real bacon!" people) needs to try uncured turkey bacon.

I haven't tried out this peppered turkey bacon yet, but I'm planning to by the end of the week! I'm thinking about using it with some brussels sprouts and maybe throwing some in a sandwich. The sky is the limit!

Final Thoughts

I love trying out new-to-me ingredients. Does that make me a true foodie? I think it does.

Have you tried any of these items before? What are your thoughts on them? Do you want to try anything from this shopping trip?
