Diwali usually heralds a time of great festivity and merrymaking that is also unfortunately followed by binge eating on the many delectable snacks the come with the Festive times. What’s really critical is to avoid the usual mistakes to ensure that Diwali, or not other festival upsets your workout plans.
Here are some great ways in which you can partake in all festive goodies without packing on the holiday weight!
1. Reusing Oil:
One of the most important parts of festive cooking is to make sure that the oil used for frying isn’t reused. Not only does it take away from the taste of the food, but it also introduces abundant free radicals in your Diet that cause acidity and heartburn. Avoiding fried food entirely goes without saying!
2. Not Having Enough Water:
With all the cold drinks and card party cocktails, it’s easy to not intake enough water. Dehydration is a real problem, and studies show how people may not be aware that they’re severely dehydrated until it adversely affects their health. Drink at least 3-4 liters of water, and you’ll thank us later when it helps you get over hangovers faster.
3. Not Pacing Your Alcohol:
Party tonight, brunch in the morning and dinner with friends tomorrow? It’s easy to give into festive vibes and have a few extra drinks than you normally would. To really stick to your diet, drink in moderation and keep your intake in check. A lot of the sweeter cocktails have calorie-laden juices and sweeteners – avoid these to make sure you’re limiting all the empty calories you are putting in your body. A good rule of thumb: have a glass of water for each glass of alcohol.
4. Portion Control:
Goes without saying – portion control! With a lot of delicacies being passed around in tons, it’s easy to forget your food intake. Try to make sure you have three solid meals, and eliminate snacking in the middle. Even if you’d like to eat unhealthily, try to make it an earlier meal of the day, and keep your dinner light and breezy.
