What Things Can Cause Aging?

Tags: aging body sugar

Aging is something that many people spend time and money to combat against. There are lots of products out there to help you fight signs of Aging. But what causes aging? Here we’re going to talk about some of the things in your life that can cause aging.

Stress

Let’s start with stress. We start here because stress can age your Body inside and out, and it can do it faster than many of the other things we will mention. Stress can wreak havoc on your body, your heart, your brain, and your skin.

There is a hormone in your body called cortisol. It’s released by your brain to try to calm down the systems in your body, such as the cardiovascular system. When you’re stressed, your blood pressure often rises. Cortisol is sent out into the body to try to bring that blood pressure down. The problem is, high levels of Cortisol on a pretty consistent basis can cause your body to age.

Inconsistent Sleep Schedules

People who don’t keep to good sleep schedules can start to age faster. If you’re getting no sleep, then you’ve probably noticed fairly quickly that you are looking older. But not putting yourself on a good sleep schedule will also have that aging effect on you.

Studies are showing that people who go to bed at the same time at night and get up at the same time in the morning feel more rested and function better than those who don’t. The reason is because the person with the consistent sleep schedule is allowing their brain to get the refreshment it needs. Also, when you go into your deep sleep mode, your brain emits a growth hormone into the body that keeps you from aging faster than you should.

Glycation

Say what? Exactly. We didn’t know what that meant either. Basically, glycation means too much Sugar. If you eat too many foods with added sugars in them, that sugar will do its best to make you age.

What happens is the sugars attach themselves to the proteins and fats that you’re eating too. Together they become advanced glycation end products or AGEs. These AGEs, especially in high intake quantities, can promote faster aging. You can prevent this by eating less sugar, and also cooking at a lower heat. When you’re cooking in a pan and you get that browning or blackening on the edge of foods, that’s where the AGEs are being created. Turn down the heat and you can avoid that, especially in cases where you’re adding sugar.

Sun Exposure

Too much time in the sun can age your skin very quickly. The radiation that hits your skin from sun rays will certainly give you a good tan sometimes. But lots of exposure can leave you with sun spots and wrinkles.

Sun exposure ages your skin by destroying collagen in your body. Collagen doesn’t just affect your skin. It is also used by other parts within the body, like joints which can also feel aging. But outwardly, when collagen is broken down by the sun exposure, you will notice signs of aging earlier.

Conclusion

Aging is a necessary part of life. But you can do some things to slow the process down. By knowing what causes aging, you can know how to avoid it or what you can do to fight against it. We hope this little guide to some of the causes of aging helps you to keep yourself looking and feeling younger for much longer.
