March is always one of my favorite months, despite not being a huge fan of spring (seriously, can the weather just make up its mind this time of year?!)… but it’s also my birthday month! And St. Patrick’s Day! And March Madness! So there’s a lot of good, even if the weather is being absolutely crazy.
And this month was no different… here are some of my favorite highlights from the month!
Sunny fishing in Colorado!
Followed by some snowy skiing…
And some delicious Bloody Marys at the top of the mountain…
Getting in a 22 miler with Jen!
Getting Brandon to run his first race on St. Patrick’s Day!
Catching a monster pike to close out the ice fishing season!
Cross country skiing for the first time in decades…
Buying my first bike…
Spending time with this guy (I am not sure how much longer he’ll be with us…)…
Of course, this March was also busy with running. I managed to accumulate a good amount of miles this month:
I was more on track with training compared to February, which made me happy. I am feeling a little behind for Boston Marathon training, but that’s a post for another day. With the addition of these 125.65 miles for the month, I am up to a total of 366.48 miles for the year! That means I could run from my house to Chicago. I don’t think I’ll be making that run any time soon, ha!
UPDATE ON MY GOALS
A new year means a fresh slate with some new goals! A lot of my goals are similar to last year (with some new ones!). Here’s an update on how I’m progressing on them:
1. TRY SOMETHING NEW EVERY MONTH
This is one of my favorite goals from last year and it’s SO fun to have some new adventures to try out! Here’s what I’ve experienced so far this year:
- January: My first roller derby
- February: Ice climbing
- March: Rock climbing / Taco Bell Challenge
2. READ 15 BOOKS IN 2018
This month I was on fire with my reading! I am back to reading how I used to and it’s been great… as long as I keep having some extra time, I’ll be dominating this goal!
- January: You Need a Budget
- February: No books
- March: Two Girls Down | The Circle
3. GET MY AGE OF MONEY TO 60 DAYS
Last year, I had a goal to get my age of money up to 45 days and I was oh-so close at the end of the year. I have a bit of a ways to go to get my age of money up to 60 days.
Here’s where I’ve been this month:
- January: 27 days
- February: 34 days
- March: 33 days
(Curious what I’m talking about? Read my thoughts on YNAB HERE.)
4. GO FOR A MARATHON PR AT THE PHILADELPHIA MARATHON
5. GO FOR A MILE PR
This race won’t be happening until May, but I am officially registered!
A look ahead at April
I have one thing on my mind for April: BOSTON! I cannot believe that the marathon has come up this fast and I’m mostly terrified, and somewhat excited, at this point. Which seems to be in line with most taper…
Besides that, I also have a super fun trip coming up at the end of the month with my sister for her birthday! We are running the Zion Half Marathon and spending a few days in Utah adventuring around. I am SO excited for this getaway with just the two of us.
Otherwise, I have a few concerts on the list and some time reserved to spend time outside once the weather starts to warm up a little bit more (if that ever happens ;)).
