I honestly don’t even know where last week went! I had the best intentions of posting more… but life got in the way and it just didn’t happen. Whoops! But that’s okay, the past few days have been pretty eventful so probably more interesting to talk about that.
On Thursday, I headed south back to Texas for a work conference for the weekend. This is the first time that I’ve been back to Texas since I moved, and honestly, I don’t miss it. I DO miss some of the Food, but the overall vibe and everything else? Not really my jam.
I did spend some time hitting my favorite food spots in Houston… like
Torchy’s Tacos (where have you been all of my life… and also, why can’t I open a franchise in Minneapolis ASAP?)
Hopdoddy (still one of the best burgers I’ve had in my life)
…and trying out some new food spots in Houston, like
Jinya Ramen (I have been craving ramen for a long time so this hit the spot)
8* Fahrenheit (rolled ice cream is all the race, so definitely had to get in on it!)
And also… I found some time to fit in my runs! I’ve talked a little bit about how I feel so uninspired this time around for Boston Marathon training, and it’s been frustrating because I know that every day the race creeps closer, and every day that I’m feeling “meh” about training sets me back a little bit more.
On Friday, I set out to do eight Miles and ended up getting lost… anddd ended up doing 9 miles! Oops. I followed up with an easy five miles that led us to Discovery Green, which is a fun area in Houston:
Yesterday, I had a long run on the calendar so I ran seven miles in the AM with my coworker (again, got a little lost… so it tacked on an extra couple miles) and then followed up with nine miles on my own for a solid 16 miles. It felt SO good to get out there and get the legs moving.
I am off to Louisville later today to continue my work adventure, so I’m hoping that my inspiration to run stays with me. Fingers crossed.
What were your favorite moments from the weekend?
Do you like to run/exercise when you travel? Why or why not? (given all of my foodie adventures, totally necessary — maybe that’s where the inspiration came from!)
