Hey guys, happy Wednesday!! I don’t know what happened to our fall weather, but it’s still perfect running here in Minneapolis:
With less than 10 days to go, I thought I’d provide an update on my thoughts around the race.
This entire training period has been quite the rollercoaster ride; I think mostly because it was a lot different than marathon training, which I’ve been doing for so long. The transition to running more, not really caring about what my paces are, but just having time on my feet was a different philosophy for me… I think the competitor in me was a little confused on what was going on.
However, I’ve started to adjust and got really Excited once I started seeing all the amazing photos roll through on The Golden Ultra Instagram page. I’ve also been mining through all the race recaps I can find… and I think I’ve moved into a stage of being terrified, excited and apprehensive.
I know it’s going to be an amazing challenge, it’s going to be an incredible experience and it’s likely going to be something that will change me as a human. I am so excited to have the opportunity to embark on this journey and push myself to the limits.
I do worry that I may be in over my head
I have never done a trail race longer than a half marathon.
I have never ran a race on a mountain.
I have never ran a race out of the country.
I have never ran an ultramarathon.
I have never ran a stage series race.
The list of what I haven’t done definitely goes on forever, and gives me a feeling that I may be in way over my head. But that terrifying feeling also makes me a little excited to try something new and go beyond anything I ever thought I would ever do.
In summary = I’m all over the place emotionally! But, I know it will be an incredible adventure and I can’t wait for that.
