Is Pokémon Go a Game, or a Fitness Mobile App ?

Pokémon Go is the most talked about location based Mobile App game that went viral recently. It was initially developed for the ios platform by Niantic, Inc. with the aid of Nintendo. Last month it was launched in Google Playstore for Android in selected regions too. Ever since its release, the buzz has kept escalating in both web and media.

During 90’s “Pokémon” a game released for Nintendo’s Game-boy console gained immense response and wide spread popularity. The game was so popular that the characters later on moved on to become a sensation through manga, animated television shows, movies, trading cards and toys too. “Pokémons” the creatures, were so interesting that kids loved them and even doubted they existed for real. Pokémon the anime is still being aired the present day on TV Tokiyo ever since April 1997 and has several records & a legacy to boast about to its own.

Even when countless games were previously released on different platforms based on Pokémon and its characters, Pokémon Go the Mobile app game marks the comeback of the level of popularity it had during the 90s to the modern era as well.

Pokémon Go makes use of location data from the users phone and loads it up on their mobile screen in a specific animated visual pattern. The game is all about a kid (user based on gender) tracking down creatures called “Pokémons” or their eggs that appear blending in with the animated replica of the map displayed based on the users surroundings and catch them using the Pokémon Balls within the game as well. Pokémons may be hiding around places the user commute, the player has to keep the mobile app on and keep an eye out for Pokémons hidden at places they travel to. When a user gets close enough to a Pokémon or an Egg they will be notified on screen and can be caught. Users with more numbers and specific Pokémon catches earns more points and level up in the game.

Pokémon Go is not just a game or a mobile app, it is much more. It can even be an inspiration for its users to workout on a regular basis too. How ?

The user has to walk or travel literally to find the Pokémons. In case we find eggs instead of Pokémon s, the only way to hatch those eggs is to place them in the incubator found in the game and walk a certain distance. It wont hatch unless you walk that particular distance with the eggs in the incubator. For the safety of the users the developers advice users not to use the Pokémon go app where you should be more alert, like when you are driving a car, riding a bike etc. An Excellent concept that other game developers could make use off too.

So to sum it up Pokémon Go has indeed set new benchmarks to interactive & virtual reality gaming, but it has yet to overcome the server overload issues and availability in all regions of the world to which the users are still complaining about. This mobile app can persuade you to improve your fitness as you use across the world even without you being aware of the fact it is acting as a fitness mobile app too. So if you haven’t used it yet, it can be downloaded both from apple store or Google Play store for Free in selected locations.
