Ordering Embroidered Apparel? Here’s What You Need to Know

All You Need to know about logo embroidered apparel

Embroidered Apparel is an excellent marketing tool for your brand. On an average, custom Embroidered clothing will generate more than 2300 impressions in its lifetime! Moreover, apparel is extremely versatile. It can be used as corporate gifts, work uniforms, and tradeshow giveaways.

Embroidered apparel gives your brand a professional look and makes it stand out. Here are some questions you need to ask yourself before ordering promotional embroidered apparel:

Which promo products can be embroidered upon?

You can have hats, shirts, bags, jackets, towels, and many other apparel products embroidered. The product you choose will depend on the occasion for which it is used. For example, if you are looking for uniforms for your employees, then opting for dress shirts is a good choice.

Which one should I choose – screen printing or embroidery?

Screen printed and embroidered apparel each have their own set of advantages. Embroidered items are usually more expensive and considered to be higher value products than screen printed items. Embroidered imprints will last longer and won’t fade away with multiple washes.

The material used for apparel also matters while choosing an imprint method. For fuzzy or fleece apparel, embroidered imprint is a better choice as screen prints tend to crack or flake. Embroidery imprints also offer multiple thread colors at no extra charge. So, brands that have multi-colored logos can opt for embroidered apparel.

Will I need special artwork for embroidery imprint?

Luckily, you won’t have to create any special artwork for an embroidery imprint. Most promotional product distributors can digitize a vector file to make a .DST file for programming into the embroidery machine. Programs like Corel Draw and Adobe Illustrator can produce a vector file.

If creating vector artwork isn’t possible, a .jpeg, .gif or another high-quality image file can also be digitized. A clear image will produce high-quality embroidery work.

Furthermore, you must provide details like logo size, thread colors, font and text alignments to the promotional product distributor. This will minimize room for error and ensure a high-quality imprint.

Hold on, what is digitization?

Embroidery machines are computerized and need input that tells them how the needle should move. When a vector or image file is digitized, a flat image is converted to an image that the machine can read and act upon. Once a file is digitized, the machine stitches out your logo onto the apparel. This process determines the number of stitches (stitch count) needed to recreate your logo.

Why is stitch count important?

If you look closely at an embroidery design, you will notice that it’s made of several small stitches. The higher the number of stitches, the denser your design will be. A higher stitch count also indicates a higher imprint cost (as the imprint size increases). A good digitizer will keep the stitch count low so that your design appears full without being bulky.

These are some of the basic things you should know before ordering embroidered apparel. If you have more questions regarding embroidered apparel, feel free to contact our team. We can also suggest some apparel imprinting ideas for your next branding campaign.
