The Trendiest Sneakers You Can Own In 2022

Sneaker culture is incredibly active these days, and each new year brings with it the promise of a ton of hot new releases. So, for those who are as excited about what 2022 has to offer own this front as we are, here’s a peek at what we expect to be some of the trendiest Sneakers of the year –– some of which are yet to come out.

Air Jordan 1 Retro High ’85 “Georgetown”

Jordan Brand again looked into its vault in order to design these beautiful sneakers with the “Georgetown” navy and gray colorway and a vintage look. These are set for release this February, and unfortunately may be even more difficult than usual (for new Jordans) to find. That’s because Nike and other shoe and clothing labels are cutting back on the number of outside retailers they allow to sell your products. As usual with big-time shoe releases though, if you plug into the culture and keep your ear to the ground you’ll likely track down a pair. That said, if you’re looking for the original Hoyas embroidery, you may be out of luck; these sneakers are likely to sport the Wings motif instead.

Toms Carlo Sneaker

As climate issues become more pressing, we’re seeing efforts ranging from solar panels on private homes, to ocean clean-up efforts, to whole countries like India embracing electric vehicles. On a smaller but still significant level, sneaker manufacturers are also getting in on the effort. That’s resulted in some pretty trendy and sharp-looking eco-friendly shoes, and the Toms Carlo is the latest example. The Carlo sneakers come in nine different colors and are created with a lightweight, breathable canvas upper with an Ortholite insole made from a mix of plant-derived and recycled materials. The best part? They’re affordable, which is not something we can say about a lot of other eco-friendly products.

Adidas Forum Low

Adidas has been doing a lot with its classic Forum Low model, with more to come in 2022. And in addition to a handful of other reboot designs, the Adidas Forum Low “Lakers” release looks destined to become one of the most sought-after sneakers of 2022. This shoe celebrates the iconic Showtime Lakers, who will incidentally be brought back to life in an HBO drama this year as well –– great news for the millions of Lakers fans out there. The white leather upper, jersey-reminiscent panels, and purple and gold found throughout this low-top shoe make it an impressive addition to any sneakerhead’s collection.

The Basement x New Balance 2002R

After a successful partnership with Nike in 2019, The Basement has returned in order to work with New Balance to design the New Balance 2002R. So far, there are two colorways available: One pair has a bright olive-green upper with a sheer white “N” logo that stands out on either side. The other pair mixes white and grey layers to create a greyscale colorway. Both pairs feature a solid-colored upper to a black midsole with matching black mudguards and heels in order to create tonal color blocking. These sneakers are nice to look at, but they may just help bring out the runner in you too –– which is what New Balance is focused on of late.

Prada x Adidas Re-Nylon Forum Low and High

Prada and Adidas are at it again, this time revisiting the Forum sneakers –– both lows and highs –– while adding a small coin purse that attaches to the laces. They’re sticking to solid color options, and specifically white and black for this release. And as an added bonus, this collaboration is also producing some athleisure outfit options, according to Paper City Magazine.

There will surely be more standout sneakers in 2022, but as of now these top the list of the ones we’re anticipating. Good luck grabbing a few pairs!
