Syria has been in Conflict for the past five years and the first major truce in the war has been put into effect.
The “cessation of hostilities” started on Friday midnight whereas reports have suggested that gun silence has been experienced in some major battlefields.
Stafan de Mistura, the UN Syria special envoy, reported that the situation had calmed down but still there was one incidence that was under investigation.
President Obama on the other hand, has warned Syria as well as its ally Russia that they are being watched by the world.
Reports indicated that Syrian rebel areas had been attacked by Russian jets in an attempt to get victory in the Syria conflict.
Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that monitors the Syria conflict said that only the city of Aleppo was quiet whereas elsewhere was quiet.
Mr. de Mistura said that talks concerning peace will go on from the 7th of March.
In addition, he said that he is sure attempts will be forged to see that the peace talks do not become a success. The process remains to be complicated and painstaking. However, UN Security Council is confident that nothing is impossible.
In early February, there were attempts to hold talks which failed.
Russia and USA have drafted a resolution on how the truce agreement can be handled and was unanimously adopted by the UN Security Council.
In the document, both sides are urged to see to it that they have used their influence to cause cessation of hostilities.
One of the requirements of the cessation is that both sides should allow aid to get to the besieged areas.
Around 30 areas have been named in the UN resolution that needs urgent aid. These areas include: Aleppo as well as Deir al-Zour that the Islamic State has besieged.
The parties involved in the truce are the rebels and the government forces.
More than a hundred rebel groups have resolved to support the truce according to a statement from High Negotiations Committee, Syrian opposition.
The HNC warned the Syrian government as well as its allies not to carry out actions pretending to be fighting terrorism while it is undermining the opposition.
Putin, Russian President, stated that his forces were after the Nusra Front, Islamic State and other extremist groups that the UN Security Council has designated to be legitimate targets.
However, there have been accusations against Russia that it is attacking some other small groups that are not supporting Syria president Assad.
President Obama said that if the cessation has to become successful, the Syrian government, its allies and Russia have to live up to their commitments. He added that the attacks should end while the humanitarian groups should be allowed to access the needy civilians that have nothing to do with the Syria Conflict.
Over 250,000 have lost their lives in the Syria conflict while millions of others have been made to leave their homes.
The days that are coming will be important in evaluating the success of the cessation.
