Earlier on, PM Modi said that his government is trying its best to complete projects on time, but the Congress was holding back its plans.
He said that that such delays being caused by the Congress should not occur since they affect the people.
As a mock statement to the PM’s words that completion of the projects 15 years ago would have made him happy, Odisha PCC president that Prime Minister was not informed or was misinformed. He said fifteen years ago, NDA is the one that was in power.
In May 2000, former PM AB Vajpayee laid the foundation for the project and made it public that completion of the project would happen in 2003. The project laid idle until the time UPA took over the government.
The mega project was put into actualization by the Congress-led UPA in the year 2006. The size of the refinery was estimated to be around 6 million to 15 million.
According to Mr. Harichandan, the refinery project was close to completion in the year 2014. The only cause for its incompletion, he said, was due to elections.
His criticism of PM Modi went further by him saying that NDA lacked any record of completed projects in the country. Thus, the NDA had no authority to claim that UPA failed to finish its projects in the stipulated time interval.
Mr. Harichandan also hit back at Modi by telling him that he never made any announcement as to what should be done to the residents who the Paradip refinery affected. Land belonging to lose to 1750 people got lost while 150 residents were evicted from the lands that they knew since childhood. He found it ironical that Mr. Modi was silent when it came to these people.
Prime Minister Modi had earlier on dedicated the Indian Oil Corporation at Paradip to the country.
PM Modi’s love for Odisha was also put to question. His silence over the demands raised by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik concerning Odisha getting a special category status made Harichandan perplexed.
The state of Biju Patnaik National Steel Company also concerned the Congress leader. He said the state of the Institute was not a desirable one and that PM Modi should have done something about it if at all he was serious with development.
The hit back was expected as the Congress would not have taken it lightly the attack from PM Modi.
