About To Buy My First Box Of MLB Trading Cards

The industry of sports cards is making a comeback! Are you involved yet?

Back when I was a kid, I used to get paid from my uncle for doing stuff around his house, in Sports Cards.

Now, before you decide if this was great or not, understand we got some awesome ass cards. Michael Jordan, Ken Griffey, and so much more.

Yeah, my uncle didn’t fuck around.

I stopped collecting them years ago as I pretty much thought the industry was dead.

Well now, cards are making a comeback.

When I heard everyone was starting to get cards again, I didn’t really understand why.

Then I realized the value of cards, especially exciting rookies, are sky rocketing.

I went into Target and saw the sports card section had been completely stripped by card collecting savages/

So clearly there’s something going on here.

As you know from listening to my podcast, Kyle Finley (friend of the show) has recently started a card breaking project.

After holding out on getting involved, I decided to do what I do best…

Purchase a box, and document the process of having Kyle Finley open it up and show me what cards I scored.

Before I get into the results, I wanted to make something clear.

There’s opportunity to make money both off buying cards and collecting them, and becoming a card breaker. This post is about being someone who just buys up cards and what’s possible out there.

I will say, I was really excited.

The results of this one box… Not that sexy.

Overall, it wasn’t the best results, but that’s the way it goes sometimes.

I didn’t let this mess with me too much.

I was back at Target the other night and decided to check out the card collection section again.

Once again, stripped bare.

But, as I was about to walk away, I found 3 boxes of MLB cards and decided to pick them up.

This proved to be a good move as the box was littered with rookie cards. Even scored a Kyle Lewis rookie card, which was one of my goals when I first bought a box.

Now, I’ve got these cards cased up and will sit back and watch how this season goes.

As far as other sports card investments, I’ve got another card break I’m apart of soon.

That is a very promising NBA box that should produce well for a couple of us lucky ones.

Anyways, hope this was a cool little introduction to getting sports cards from the role of the collector.
