Happiness with Work-life Balance – Is That All?

Sometimes you are so fully engrossed in what you are doing that you lose track of time. Out of the blue, you get to realize that hours have passed and you have missed your lunchtime. Striving to plan a balanced number of hours for each of your various work and personal activities is rewarding, mandatory, realistic and joyful. But relying on them completely for enjoyment may not be a good choice. Life is and should be more fluid than that.

Your greatest individual drivers to be happy will differ with time, habitually on a day-to-day basis. The true sense of balance for you today will perhaps be unusual for you tomorrow. The right balance for you when you start a new career will not be the same as when you are nearing retirement.

There is no ideal balance you shall be looking for. The ideal work-life balance is different for every individual. Everyone has different priorities for their lives. Although many consider that being happy is central to living a healthy life, many think that happiness seems dependent, uncertain and vague on a number of factors other than themselves.

But here’s the key. Have you ever well thought-out that pure joy may be more associated to you and your behavior than the circumstances of your life?

I used to think that I need a perfect body, a good career and great partner to be happy. I got in a good shape and I did feel happier. But that was temporary. Ultimately I got to realize that I can decide to be happy within myself at any point in time. And so can everyone.

Material things surely, will make you happy but not consistently. And when they don’t give you persistent contentment, you keep looking for more. Your glee is forever subject to the impulse of these material pleasures.

The good news is that you can also find happiness within. You can ascertain that you have some remarkable things inside you. They are beautiful if you realize to accept them for what they are.

Life is always amazing, as it is, with or without the fantasies. And since the pure joy is within, you will not lose it because people aren’t in a good mood, or because of peripheral events altering your basis to be happy and content.

These following things will happen to you when you start finding joy within. And they are definitely worthy to achieve implacably.

  • You start relying on yourself.
  • You love yourself for who you are in the moment.
  • Your inner voice is clear and determined.
  • You embrace learning and growth.
  • Your time is spent in doing things that you like.
  • You accept people for what they are.

Happiness is one of the most disdained words in our vocabulary. Yet we look for this elusive state in our lives. The traditional yoga and holy teachings emphasize that joy is genuine only when we let go of attachment for material and momentary things. And discover the lasting joy that is within.
