This week we are super lucky to have Angela from Finlee + Me sharing some of her success tips with us.
Although she has a successful online Business, everyone starts somewhere, and I love how she talks about her failures and how she just pushes through and gets it done!!
What else is so inspiring??
She started from SCRATCH! If you have a vision and determination, you can learn what you need to learn to make it happen, and I totally believe that!
That is the path I am on too, finding out what the next step is between where you are now, and where you want to be. And just knocking them down one domino at a time.
Behind all this, there is a deep desire to show other Mum’s who have that niggling voice in the back of their mind……. that they can DO more, that they can be MORE and that they can HAVE more!!
This is NOT to tell people they SHOULD, there is no judgement here!
It is not about feeling like you aren’t doing enough, or don’t ‘have’ enough…..Actually, EXACTLY the opposite!
More that YOU ARE WORTH all that your head and your heart desires!!
Keep going down and read on for the interview!!
Thanks a bunch for sharing your insights with us Angela!
What inspired you to start your own Business?
I created Finlee and Me back in 2010, (a year after having my first child Finlee) because I felt there was a gap in the market here in Australia for educational toys and other baby products that would assist kids to create childhood memories through play, love and travel.
What is your proudest achievement so far?
My proudest moment was when I signed with Nuffnang (Australia’s leading blogging agency) as one of
Australia’s top 30 influencers.
How much do you believe having a clear brand has helped your business
get to this point?
There are many parts to business and I think it’s important to know that branding is just one small part of the bigger picture. It’s important, but so is a functional website to convert sales, or SEO is also important for people to be able to find you, building relationships in business is equally important. So yes, branding is important but it’s only part of the over all strategic plan.
What have been your biggest challenges? And how did you overcome them?
There are sooo many challenge that I’ve faced and continue to face because business is never perfect.
However, my biggest challenge was realising that I can’t do everything, that I need to let go and to out
source so I can scale my business.
How do you motivate yourself to do the things for your business that
make you uncomfortable?
I just do it. I have 2 choices to sit and do nothing or to take action. I choose action. And remember to ask
yourself… what’s the worst thing that can possibly happen.
And remember to ask yourself... what's the worst thing that can possibly happen.

Did you have to learn any new skill sets to get to where you are?
Education is imperative for a business to succeed so I am constantly trying to keep up to day with a variety of things in the digital marketing world, SEO, social media platforms etc. Each of these functions/platforms need to constantly be redefined, tweaked etc to make your business better. So in a nutshell, I’ve had to learn everything from scratch, fail at some things and work through these failures to get through to the other side.
What are your best tips for fitting your business around family life?
Structure. Ensuring that when you’re with your kids, you’re actually present and in the moment with them. Holidays. Holidays are so important in order to disconnect from your day to day life and reconnect with the
most important people in your life.
What is your favourite quote?
I have a lot of favorite quotes but at the moment the one I’m constantly using is:
“For everything you say yes to, you’re equally saying no to something else.”
I would also add that it’s super important to surround yourself but like minded people. Your family and friends won’t understand and at times will even bring your down. Connect with a networking group and nurture
these relationships because your business needs relationships to have success.
Lastly, get a coach/consultant. They will guide you, get you through things quicker as they’ve already been there and done that, but most importantly they will support you, nurture you and hold you accountable.
I absolutely agree with Working together with those who have had experience in your niche, cut your learning curve down, see more progress quicker, have more clarity and direction. You are more likely to stick with it, with LESS stress and confusion!
Angela is generous enough to share herself and her knowledge, with consulting services, so if you feel like you and your business success would benefit from her experience email her at [email protected] and I am sure she would be happy to work with you on getting some strategies in place to move forward!
