When you hear about any Student completing their PhD, your eyes may roll and your jaw may drop down. The first thought that bumps in your mind at that moment- “this guy is so intelligent and hard-working”. For an instance you might also think that if you have worked hard during your graduation, you could also proudly say the same thing. But is it really true to assume that every PhD student is intelligent, diligent and innovative? Though you have noticed most of the learned people are PhD holders but this doesn’t mean that every PhD holder is sharp, quick and smart. I know everything
If anybody with doctorate Degree proudly tells you that they know everything, don’t just trust them blindly because PhD student does not know everything in fact their concept in narrowed down in one specific field that allows them obtain the extended information on the same. So basically he is an expert on the subject that is related to his research work and not the entire thing. A person with Phd Degree cannot be called intelligent rather he is competent in one field and can be called as master in that area.
Completing PhD means better job
Completing PhD doesn’t necessarily open up door for good job opportunity. The one with PhD degree also need to struggle hard to get a good job. They need to equally go through the process of hard-work, selection and preparation to get a satisfactory job. But more often than not PhD degree turns out to be hindrance for some students whereas in some cases it can be a great asset that brightens up their career. If a PhD student chooses to build their future in academics, they will have number of person around holding similar degrees likewise if they choose their course in industrial field; they have to face lots of challenges. So to get a better job, equal hard-work is required like that of bachelor student.
We study 24*7
Studying for PhD depends on the interest and enthusiasm of a student. Though hard-work and innovation are required while doing PhD but that doesn’t mean you spend 24/7 in labs and research work. It all depends on the student; their input for the chosen subject and their zeal to learn new things. So not necessarily every PhD students are required to spend 24*7 for the work.
Life becomes monotonous and bore some
PhD is research centered. So those who love research work and are always ready to discover new things will surely enjoy the years of their PhD course. They have colleagues and friends with whom they can enjoy every phase of life. PhD becomes bore for those who maintain distance with friends and closed once to complete their research work. So it’s your choice whether to enjoy the course or choose to become lonesome.
We are the decision maker
Not completely true. Depending on the level of work, practice and your qualification; the right to make decision is permissible to you. If you have just completed your PhD, you will be under the guidance of professor or experts of that field. But if you have already acquired years of working experience, you can later be a decision maker for every research project.

Doing PhD is expensive
Though PhD is higher education, but this doesn’t mean that it is very expensive. Some colleges are there that pay students for doing PhD whereas others require your investment. If you are good at the chosen area and lucky enough, you can get one of the colleges that pay for your research area.
PhD is end of the study
This is the biggest misconception in our society. A PhD holder is treated as highly qualified individual. Though true in certain ways, but having a PhD degree is not the end of your educational career. It again depends on individual interest to continue study by extending their research work and knowledge or giving a full-stop to their academics and choosing to work as lecturer or in an industrial area.
