AIIMS, Bhopal was established by an act of Parliament on the lines of original All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi which provides the courses for undergraduate and Postgraduate students. The students who wants do their courses in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences must write the entrance examination which has conducted by the ALLMS, New Delhi.

All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhopal has started clinical services in the year 2012 and also started OPD services in the year 2013. Unfortunately the AIIMS Bhopal has shut down its mental healthcare services in the year 2015. After few days AIIMS, Bhopal had 27 departments with better faculty members. According to the servey, presently the institute has 41 departments.

AIIMS, Bhopal is yet to get key departments such as Cardiology, Nephrology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Urology and Nuclear medicine. And same as AIIMS, Bhopal provides the different type of courses related to the paramedical and Lab technicians, Surgeons and all other courses related to the medical departments.

The students who wants to finish their courses in the AIIMS, Bhopal must write the entrance examination. The student, who got rank among the top five in Madhya Pradesh for the entrance exam, regrets choosing the AIIMS, Bhopal over other top ranking colleges. And other students say the lack of infrastructure has led to drop in the quality of clinical training. The AIIMS, Bhopal have a licence only for whole blood transfusion.
