The productivity key – preparation

A sure way to get more work done is by having everything you need at hand before you even start. Think of it like this – When you are fully prepared for the following tasks you are like a loaded gun. The only thing, which you need to do is to pull the trigger.

Create your dream work place

A good start of the preparation would be to clean up your working space. Get rid of all the distracting elements from your working environment. The only things, which you should leave on your desk should be closely related with the task, which you are about to Start Working on. Gather them all and place them somewhere close to you so you don’t have to get up from your chair, once you start working.

An incredible productivity booster is when you enjoy spending time in your working area, so clean everything up before you start working. This will make it much easier for you to focus on the task and will keep you going.

Get on with it

The number of books, which never got written, life-changing decisions, which never got made  and tasks, which never got finished is enormous. The main reason for that is because somebody was afraid to take the first step – to get everything ready in advance.

Having the idea of starting to work on something is not the same as actually getting on with it. It takes a lot to get out of your comfort zone or to keep yourself motivated enough to go through the whole task but having everything prepared from the beginning tremendously improves your chances of starting and getting the job done.

Your goals are the main goal

As soon as you are done with all the preparations, it is vital that you immediately start working towards your goals. Just get one of the tasks done right away. It doesn’t have to be perfect. You can always come back later and improve it. The purpose of all this is to get you going in the right direction and create a stable work flow.

The biggest milestones, which we need to overcome are not the lack of skills or opportunities, but fear of failure and rejection and the doubts, which they create.
