If you are looking for a Book that your teen will enjoy, that is filled with reality, fiction, and friendship, The Redemption of Erath Consolation might be up his alley.
The Redemption of Erath Consolation
Brandye Dui-Erath never had a chance. His parents died in a fire the night he was born, and the people in his hometown of Erath all feared him. His grandfather took him in and loved him like his own son. He made sure Brandye was loved and protected. Giving him a good upbringing, and teaching him right from wrong, only one person befriended him; his one and only friend Elven.
No matter how much good, Brandye did, darkness seemed to follow him. This can be a small as an encounter with the harsh ruler Lord Garath to the evil dark creatures in the forest. From time his dreams are even overthrown by mystical creatures. Thinking this might be from this grandfathers tales and all, he keeps his thinking to himself and goes on with his life as a loner followed by darkness.
One day, while trying do find justice for the town of Erath, Brandye and Elvin together with a group of people try to break the darkness and find the light.
For teens, this The Redemption of Erath Consolation is amazing. While this book is complete fantasy, and wonderfully developed and made up characters, there is a lot of amazing features. The set up of the town is pictured with realism. Teens can see the world coming together. At the same time, the grandfather fills the realism with fantasy tales and magical creates giving this book a twist of fantasy. The reader has the power to move in and out of different worlds forcing them to mix reality with fantasy.
In The Redemption of Erath Consolation the characters are fully developed. However, there is little action in the beginning of the book. I felt it to be story filled with interesting details and wonderfully crafted places rather than an action book. However, the set up was very interesting. If your kids like more action, this is something to consider.

The Redemption of Erath Consolation is an amazing book. I felt myself following along on the journey with Brandye. He was a boy who was born into bad luck. He tried to make a life for himself but darkness always seem to follow him. Until the very last page, nothing went his way.
Not only is The Redemption of Erath Consolation an amazing read, but Satis left the reader wanting more. He set up the stage for an amazing second read. A book that is interesting and keeps teens wanting to read the next book, is a book well worth checking out.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine and were in no way influenced by outside sources.
