The Cross-Cutting Advisory Solutions (CAS) Department manages and delivers expertise and programs which are cross-cutting in nature and have application across the Corporation. These include public-private partnership transactions, Energy and resource efficiency, SME development, corporate finance, gender and multidisciplinary business solutions.

This position, for a Energy Efficiency Specialist will be part of a regional team of energy and resource efficiency specialists whose primary role shall be support for existing IFC advisory programs in the region (in particular Bangladesh Textile sector clients) and development of new projects and new client engagements. The IFC CAS resource efficiency portfolio includes significant engagement with the textile industry in Bangladesh, work with cement majors in India, and Nepal, as well as engaging governments on PPP transactions in energy efficiency options such as efficient street lighting. IFC is looking at expanding our energy efficiency work beyond the textile and cement sectors in the region.

Job Description / Responsibility
    • Ability to provide deep dive training on energy and water efficiency to financial institutions and other key stakeholders;
    • Work closely with global and regional Results Management teams to track and report REF program results in the region against development goals/other performance indicators; identify areas that need refocusing of activities to meet program targets
    • Provide technical input to IFC legal documents related to client engagement;
    • Lead preparation of proposals for donor support for specific country-level initiatives as required;
    • Support IFC investment teams in business development efforts for clients with strong resource efficiency/distributed renewable potential
    • Maintain contacts and develop credible relationships with relevant stakeholders; and
    • Contribute to corporate knowledge base by systematically consolidating and analyzing lessons learned from implementation experience and share with IFC colleagues.
Educational Requirements
      • Master’s degree in engineering or business

  • At least 7 years of relevant experience;N/A

Additional Job Requirements
    • Technical background/competency in IFC target sectors with recognized track record in delivering technical advice in industrial resource efficiency/captive energy consultancy assignments, and/or investment projects in energy and resource efficiency;
    • Proven experience working with Private Sector Clients in textile, machinery, cement and/or chemicals sectors is a plus.
    • Demonstrated ability to engage senior management of private sector companies on conceptualization and implementation of energy efficiency projects.
    • Self-starter with strong organizational, and problem-solving skills, including ability to demonstrate the business case for improving energy and resource efficiency for private sector clients;
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely for expert and non-expert audiences, including ability to communicate technical and financial aspects of E&RE projects to diverse audiences;
    • Excellent communication skills including client relationships, presentation skills and negotiation skills;
    • Results-oriented approach with demonstrated history of accomplishments, preferably in the region; Familiarity with textile industry associations in Bangladesh such as BGMEA, BKMEA, BTMEA would be helpful.
    • Well networked within the professional community in relevant industries. Good financial skills will be a plus.
    • Excellent fluency in both English and Bengali is a must
    • Ability to undertake frequent travel within SA region
