UPSC, RRB, SSC to Share Competitive Exam Scores at NCS’s Online Portal

Indian Economy is directly affected from the workforce in different sectors. As per the statistics, the big portion of the workforce is employed in the unorganized sectors. Therefore, to create employment opportunities in the organized sectors (Government, State-Owned, and Private Sector Enterprises), Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government have come up with a lot of beneficiary programs.

Holding “Better Employment Opportunities to Indian Youth” as the primary objective and following the notion of PM Modi, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has proposed the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Railway Recruitment Boards (RRB), Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and other recruiting bodies to share the marks of all the candidates in the various competitive exams through the online portal of National Career Services (NCS) “www.ncs.gov.in”.

In its order, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) said “Now, it has been decided that all the recruitment agencies viz. UPSC, Staff Selection Commission, RRB etc. will use National Career Service or NCS Portal of Ministry of Labour and Employment for disclosures of scores and rankings of the candidates”.

UPSC conducts examinations to select officers for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and the Indian Police Service (IPS).

SSC conducts examinations (SSC CGL, SSC CHSL etc.) to select candidates for various Government Departments.

RRB conducts examinations to hire employees for various departments in Indian Railways.

Two Way Benefit of Sharing Online Scores at NCS Portal

According to the Press Trust of India (PTI), this initiative will boost the hiring by the Private Sectors.

Through Ncs Portal, the aspirants as well employers will be able to see the candidates’ scores. Therefore, it will become easier for employers to find out the most suitable applicants for their vacant positions.

Benefit to Employers

Through the online scores of the candidates from various competitive exams, the employers will be able to determine the skills and knowledge of the candidates.

Benefit to Candidates

As a result, the candidates who are looking for better employment opportunities can see the prospects to get jobs according to their abilities.

How Will the Process Come into Existence?

The process is an official notification, thus, will follow a systematic approach to complete the order. Below we have listed the valid procedure to be followed by the agencies and NCS to show the scores online –

1. As per demanded by the Government, the exam conducting agencies/ bodies like Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) and Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and other agencies will have to link their websites to the National Career Service (NCS) portal “www.ncs.gov.in” of Ministry of Labour and Employment.

2. The National Career Services will then make the candidates’ scores public that was obtained in the competitive exams conducted by the respective agencies.

3. According to the commission’s report, there will be an “Opt-out Clause”, which means that the scores of only those candidates will be shared, who qualify for the final stage of the examination.

4. Thus, the scores will be disclosed to all the employers wanting to employ candidates who fit into the criteria set up by them.

Matters Linked with the Proposal to Make Scores Available at NCS Portal

On 19th July 2017, along with UPSC, SSC, and RRB, this proposal was also sent to All Para Military Forces (CISF CRPF, BSF, ITPB, SSB, Assam Rifles), CBDT, CBEC, All Public Sector Banks , NABARD, Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Indian Army/ Services Selection Board, Indian Air Force/ Armed Forces Selection Board, Indian Navy, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), National Highways Authority of India, National Airport Authority of India, National Human Rights Commission and all Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs).

This proposal to show candidates’ scores online on a common portal for making the process of providing employment to the unemployed easier was firstly instituted by the NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India).

PM Modi has also approved the proposal in March 2016 with a motive to help employers find the talented candidates for the suitable jobs.

Results of entrance examinations conducted by Government bodies like JEE (for Engineering) and NEET (for Medical) are already being used by private colleges for admissions.
