What is CCMN 2017? Facts, Process and Participating Institutes

The Centralized Counselling for M.Sc. Programs serve as a gateway for JAM qualified candidates to take admissions in the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and some Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs).

The JAM qualified candidates who fail to match the required criteria for IITs & IISc Admission can apply for the CCMN 2017 Procedure and get their M.Sc. goals accomplished with the NITs and CFTIs.

CCMN 2017 Eligibility Criteria for Admissions into Various M.Sc. & Related Programs

Before getting enrolled for the CCMN 2017 process, the candidate must ensure that he/she meets the following defined eligibility conditions.

1. JAM Qualification with a Valid Score.

2. Following certificates approved by the concerned Departments of Govt of India – OBC-NCL Certificate, ST/SC Certificate, PWD Certificate. (Download the Standard Format from here)

3. Age requirements (Birth certificate or 10th Mark sheet will only be considered valid.)

4. Educational Qualification:

Institutes Types For Gen/OBC For SC/ST/PWD
Aggregate System of Evaluation (Based on Aggregate Marks) 6.5 CGPA or 60% 6.0 CGPA or 55%
Honors System of Evaluation (No Aggregate Marks) 6.5 CGPA or 60% 6.0 CGPA or 55%

The candidates whose result is awaited may apply but they need to submit their mark-sheets before 30th Sep 2017.

5. Candidates must have passed Mathematics as a subject at 10+2 level. This criterion is applicable on all the Participating Institutes accept the below ones –

CCMN 2017 Admission & Counselling Process Defined [Guidelines]

Right from the CCMN Online Registration to the 1st, 2nd & 3rd Round of Seat Allotments, we are providing every single information in this section.

To present the CCMN Counselling Procedure & Important Dates in an easy to understand manner, we have divided it into the 5 different steps. Please check out the visual presentations given below.

Online Form Filling & Submission:

CCMN Counselling Step by Step Procedure


The Online Form Submission for CCMN Counselling consists of following steps –

1. Registration:


Please follow the steps for successful registration.

(i). Register at CCMN with your JAM 2017 details.

(ii) Fill all the asked information accurately and verify it.

(iii). Preview the details and Submit Carefully.

(iv). Set a new password and Use OTP to generate PI (Permanent Identifier)

(v). Login with PID or Password to fill the other vital information like – Personal & Bank Details.

(vi). Scan & Upload the Required Documents – JAM Score Card, Category Certificates, Birth Certificates or 10th Marksheet and Marksheet of 12th and Graduation.

(vii). Upload the Photo, Signature & Documents in Original Format. (Size should be less than 1 MB)

2. Filling up of Preferences/Choices:


After filling up all the personal details and uploading the required documents, candidates need to mention their choices amongst all the Participating Colleges.

A candidate can fill multiple choices within a single form but he/she should fulfill the eligibility criteria for the preferred choices.

After filling up all the choices, candidates need to Lock them. Once locked, they will not be able to edit them.

3. Fee Payment:

The candidates are requested to pay the registration fee of INR 2000/- by using any of the following methods –

State Bank Collect (Net Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card/SBI E-Challan)

Note: The candidates who mistakenly upload the wrong/defected documents at the time of Online Submission can replace the old ones with the correct documents on 1st & 2nd June 2017.

After the Successful Submission of Online Forms, the 1st Round of Seat Allotments Result will be declared on 8th June 2017. Lets’ see what the candidates would be required to do thereafter.

1st Round of Counselling:



The candidates who got the seats in 1st Round must confirm whether they are accepting the allotted seat or not. If they click on NO, they will no more be able to do the CCMN Counselling 2017.

But If they click on YES, they will have to choose one between the ‘Freeze’ and ‘Float’ options.

Those who accept the seat must submit the Counselling Participation Fee of INR 7,500/- (SC/ST) & INR 10,000/- (Gen/OBC) and

Freeze: If the candidate has been allotted the ‘Choice No. 3’ and he/she agrees to accept the choice, then the ‘Freeze’ option should be chosen to lock the seat.

Float: If the candidate wants to upgrade to the Highest Possible Choice, then he/she must choose ‘Float’ option to take part in the 2nd Round of Counselling (19th June 2017).


1. The candidates who do not get any seat in 1st Round of Counselling must wait for the 2nd Round that will be conducted on 19th June 2017.

2. The candidates who were allotted in 1st Round and wish to surrender their seats can do it from 28th June to 2nd July 2017.

2nd Round of Counselling:


The candidates who are allotted the seats in the 2nd Round of Counselling may either clicks on YES or NO. If they click on NO, they will be exited from the CCMN Counselling 2017.

If they choose the Float Option, then they need to wait for the 3rd Round of Counselling (4th July 2017).


1. The candidates who were allotted in the 1st & 2nd Round of Counselling and wish to surrender their seats must surrender them on or before 2nd July that means before the start of 3rd Counselling.

2. The candidates who were not allotted any seats in the 2nd Round of Counselling must wait for the 3rd Round to be held on 4th July 2017.

3rd Round of Counselling:



Based on the surrender seats and remaining seats, the candidates are allotted in this 3rd Round of Counselling.

The candidates who are allotted the seats in this final round must either accept it by choosing the Option ‘Freeze’ and pay the Counselling Participation Fee of INR 7,500/- (SC/ST) & INR 10,000/- (Gen/OBC) or reject it by simply clicking on NO.

After the completion of all the 3 Rounds of Counselling, the selected candidates will be able to get their Provisional Allotment Letters (PAL) to join their respective institutes. The PAL can be downloaded from 4th July to 9th July 2017.

 Special Announcement:  

1. The candidates who do not get any seat allotment in this third round must wait for the Final Announcement of Vacancies till 10th July 2017. If there are any vacant seats, they might have the chances to get the admissions.

2. The Candidates who have surrender their seats online can get the refund of their CPF after the deduction of INR 1000/-. The refund will be initiated only in the case of Valid Seat Surrender.
