What is NID?
National Institute of Design (NID) conducts competitive exam to accept admission into Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD) and Post-Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (PGDPD).
- Duration of GDPD is 4 years.
- Duration of PGDPD is 2.5 years.
NID Notification:
- All candidates need to download application form at admissions.nid.edu and send duely filled form with supporting documents and Demand Draft of Rs. 1500 (may vary year from year)
- All candidates needs to send attested copies of 10th, 12th mark sheets and Graduation Passing Certificate (those whose result is awaited needs to send bonafide certificate from school/college), attested copy of age proof both GDPD Hall Tickets and Caste Certificate.
Eligibility Criteria:
For Under Gradate Programme:
- Candidate must have passed (10 + 2) exam from recorginised board.
- Age of candidate must not be above 20 years.
For Post Graduate programme:
- Maximum Age: 30 years
- Candidate who have completed GDPD diploma from NID is eligible for Post-Graduate Diploma Programme in Design.
Educational Eligibility criteria in case candidate don’t have GDPD:
Ahmedabad Campus:
- Product Design: Degree in Engineering / Design / Architecture
- Furniture & Interior Design: Degree in Engineering / Design / Architecture or 4 year diploma in Craft Design or Interior Design.
- Ceramic & Glass Design: Graduation degree
- Graphic Design: Graduation degree
- Animation Film Design: Graduation degree
- Film & Video Communication: Graduation degree
- Textile Design: Degree in Design / Fine Arts / Architecture or 4 years diploma in Handloom or Textile Technology.
Bengaluru Campus:
- Information Design: Degree in Engineering / Fine Arts / Architecture
- Interaction Design: Degree in Engineering / Fine Arts / Architecture
- Design for Retail Experience: Any Graduation degree
Gandhi Nagar Campus:
- Transportation & Automobile Design: Degree in Engineering / Industrial design / Architecture / Interior design
- Toy & Game Design: Any Graduation degree
- Photography Design: Any Graduation degree
- Apparel Design: Degree in Engineering / Design / Fine Arts / Architecture or 4 years diploma in Handloom or Textile Technology.
- Lifestyle Accessory Design: Degree in Engineering / Fine Arts / Architecture / Design
- New Media Design: Degree in Engineering / Design / Fine Arts / Architecture / Music / Visual Communications.
- Strategic Design Management: Degree in Planning / Interior design / Engineering / Design / Fine Arts / Architecture.
NID Admission Process:
First Phase: First phase includes Design Aptitude Test (DAT) at exam centres given below.
Second Phase: On the basis of DAT score, candidates will be called for Interview in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Gandhinagar.
