Walmart and Western Union announced a new programme that will allow Western Union Money transfers at the various Walmart locations across the US. The world’s largest retailer- Walmart- and the world’s most renowned cross-border, cross-currency money movement and payment solution provider- Western Union- have joined hands to facilitate this service. The services will include domestic and international money transfers, bill payments and money orders. Services will be offered at more than 4,700 Walmart stores with a rollout planned to begin in the spring of 2021.

The New Programme

Walmart customers will now have the ability to wire money to family and friends across the world through Western Union’s cross-currency platform spanning a total of 200 countries. Customers will have the option of their money transfer being paid out in minutes across more than 550,000 retail locations or into billions of bank accounts, wallets or cards. Millions across America depend on Walmart’s transparent, Everyday Low Price strategy to help them conduct important financial business. The addition of Western Union to this list will expand the horizon of choices available to the Walmart customer even further.

Talking About this Novel Project

Wilbert Noronha, the Vice President of Financial Services at Walmart propounded, “Walmart is much more than a place where customers shop. To millions, it’s also a place they trust for their financial needs as well.” He also added, “We’re thrilled to soon begin offering Western Union money transfer services at Walmart locations nationwide and, together, continue connecting family and friends worldwide through Western Union’s global money movement platform.”
