Current Affairs June 2022

Current Affairs occupy an important part of any exam whether it be Staff Selection Commission Exams (SSC – CGL. CHSL. MTS), Public Service Commission Exam (PSC) or Bank Exams or other competitive exams.

For SSC exams the number of questions from current affairs varies from 10 to 12 in the General Awareness part. It can be quite tricky answering the current affairs part. With each year, the importance to current affairs is increasing in every competitive exam.

Now the most important question-  can you study every current affair item?

The answer is simple. A resounding NO. It is not only possible not to study every bit of current affairs but also foolish. Why foolish? Because every serious candidate has a lot of other subjects to learn. For instance, for SSC exams one- fourth of every question paper is Maths, the other one-fourth occupied by Reasoning, the next one-fourth by English and there is this General Awareness section too. So, giving too much time to current affairs can be detrimental to other subjects and finally to the result.

Same is the case with Bank exams and Public Service Commission exams. There is no exam where the sole importance is given only to Current Affairs part.

So what is the ideal way of learning current affairs?

A little bit of knowledge acquired by regular reading of newspaper, a lot of common sense and practising previous year questions – the panacea for all exams.

Why practising previous year questions for current affairs?

It is important to get a hang of questions that had come last year from the current affairs part. Most often, a traditional question like Buxa Tiger Reserve might have been asked because it was figured in a news item of that year. But since a candidate had memorised National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries, he would not find it difficult and wouldn’t be able to guess that it was from the current affairs part. Also, some exams specifically ask schemes and their spending, you know about these only if you are thorough with the previous year questions. Some articles in Indian Polity which had been hitherto considered insignificant, pop up, why? Because that was current affairs. So reading newspaper regularly can help you overcome the surprises thrown by such questions.

Why regular reading of newspaper?

Newspapers help you in keeping track of points. You don’t have to recollect it, reading it regularly helps you to recollect what you read the day before, because there is going to be a follow up article in the coming days. So the point is, when you read about the same thing every day, you won’t forget it. It is like repeating things every day.

Here, we compile the monthly Current Affairs Questions which comes with explanations. You can download it in the pdf format. Also if you want to test yourself, you can attempt the questions uploaded every day – 5 questions a day. Either way, it helps in your studies.
