Catering to this changing demands of society, AJ Institute of Engineering and Technology (AJIET) has been offering several engineering courses. Started in the year 2016 under Laxmi Memorial Education Trust, AJIET is located in Mangaluru. The institute offers a wide array of academic courses and programmes that are approved by AICTE, New Delhi. The college is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, Karnataka, and is widely recognized for its academic standards.

A.J. Institute of Engineering & Technology is promoted by Laxmi Memorial Education Trust (R.) which was registered in the year 1991 in the memory of Late Laxmi Shetty, mother of Dr. A. J. Shetty. Dr. A. J. Shetty is the President and Managing Director of the trust. Dr. A.J. Shetty has made an unbelievable contribution in the field of education and business. He has created a niche for himself through his unparalleled leadership qualities and humanitarian work.

Being a pioneer industrialist of South Kanara, Dr. A. J. Shetty started the renowned 3 Star Hotel Moti Mahal, A.J, Hospital & Research Centre (Tertiary Care Super Speciality Hospital), A.J. Institute Of Medical Science, A.J. Institute Of Dental Sciences, A.J. Institute Of Management, A. J. Institute Of Paramedical Sciences, and so on.

The two other pillars of the institution are Prashanth Shetty, Vice President and Dr. Shantharama Rai, the Principal of the institute. The entire responsibility to handle the administration system is taken care of by these two noteworthy personalities.

AJIET offers various engineering courses like Civil Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Information Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering. Apart from this, it also offers Ph.D. programs in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

All round excellence in management and engineering discipline is attained only by close interaction with the allied industries. Hence, to facilitate close interaction of modern industries as well as to mobilize the skilled human capital of the college, AJIET has a set-up a placement cell.

Knowledge Expansion Beyond Classroom 

The ultimate aim of AJIET is to make the students job ready. It is continuously offering several skill development certification programmes that are organized by the departments to augment the Student with industry oriented skills. Along with this, students can be benefited by taking aptitude training, resume writing practice, mock test and mock interviews. Generally, the final year students undergo technical training, conducted by industry personnel to make them acquainted with the industry standards.

An organizational set-up, Centre of Excellence which facilitates leadership skills, research support and training for respective areas. It is often associated with new software tools, technologies and people’s network. Numerous sponsored workshops/FDPs are organized with the financial support from CSIR, ISTE, DRDO, AICTE, and DST. Various research and development (R&D) activities are conducted regularly so that both the students and faculty members participate.

Another big step by AJIET is the School Outreach Programmes. Dr. A. J. Shetty believes, “It is important to know that the school teachers should shape their students who go for higher education and should be aware of the latest trend of professional courses such as B.E. Also the school students should equip their qualities in the entire manner while they transform from school to college/university. To create awareness and to bridge the gap on these aspects, we have designed a few outreach programmes for students and teachers of school.”

Overall Skills Development Activities

AJIET believes that apart from academics, it is important for an institution to develop overall skills of its students. Therefore, the institute organizes various fests and competitions. Every year AJIET college conducts an Inter Collegiate Techno-Cultural fest – AAKAR. AJIET AAKAR is a splendid platform that students use to showcase their technical as well as cultural talents. This creates an opportunity to acquire feedback from professional enterprises and an enthusiastic audience to watch and encourage the talents. To name a few, there are technical contests like paper presentation, Robocup, circuit design etc in accordance with different aspects of engineering branches.

There are various clubs such as Fine arts, Literary club, Cultural club and photography club so that the students can explore their talents and participate in the activities organized with the co-ordination of each department.

Apart from this, AJIET has NSS and Red Cross teams so that students are oriented  to community service. In one such social service program, more than 120 students and faculties donated blood.
